Hello All! I am a 22 year old about to graduate college next year and I want to start my life totally new. I currently weigh 255 lbs and I am 5' 6" tall. My goal is for this time next year to weigh 160 lbs and fit into a size 8. I have tried to diet so many times before and I am good for about a month and then fall flat on my face. I don't want to do it this time. I am ready to make an entire lifestyle change. What got me started it something kind of funny. I got a new phone, an iPhone to be exact and I found the "myfitnesspal" app. I have used it for 3 days now and it is amazing for tracking what I eat and I can find out how many calories something is right away instead of after the fact. I did it for a day not limiting myself I found out I was eating over 3000 calories a day! Now for the past two days using the app I have been eating around 1600-1700. I am really excited and I know I can do this! The hardest part for me is exercise. I don't have a lot of support at home to just go out and get things done, so I feel that I need to push myself. I always say, when i get thinner I will go out for a run, it's a silly thing to say but its how I rationalize with myself and then I never go. I want to get out there and get moving and shed some weight. Who's with me?

Hey Trishycakes welcome to MFP !
I understand you wanna lose weight BUT watch out with dropping to much to fast, your body might think its starving so to speak because its going from 3000 to 1600-1700 Kcal per day that might cause it to store a lot of fat you dont want.
If you notice your staying around the same weight or even gaining some try to increase your Kcal a little but with more healty foods.
( Might sound weird but give it a shot ) And dont forget to start working out just start with taking walks even if you dont get a lot of support at home you can take small walks start with 20min every other day and slowly increase the time and days per week.
Keep in mind that you wont see massive changes the first few days or even weeks at the start you will only feel bttr and notice some small changes like cloths fetting bttr or having more space in them stuff like that.
Good luck !0 -

That sounds amazing. I have always supported Breast Cancer research as my first boss/mentor died about 2 years ago of breast cancer. It's such a great goal, you can do it!0
