It was recommended to me to drink a gallon of water a day. One way to track is to fill a gallon jug with water and make sure you are drinking from that jug throughout the day. Even though you are drinking green tea (which does count toward your water intake) you still need to drink some water plain. You can also try adding a little lemon, cucumber, or berries to your water to give it a little taste.0

The recommended fluid intake for a female is 1.6l a day.
It doesnt have to be water, so your tea will count towards it.
The reason you drink it is to help your body to stay hydrated and function properly, As long as the colour of your urine is no darker than light straw then thats a good sign you are hydrated. Obviously pure water has some advantages, such as adding to satiety and having zero calories.

You most definitely do not need to drink a gallon of water everyday unless you like being near a toilet all day. Fruits and vegetables count as water intake, as well.0
