Here's where you can look for a stomach surgery group:

Hopefully they can make you aware of the lifelong problems which come from these surgeries.

In general, people here are against such drastic measures, a permanent change to a perfectly healthy & functional organ in your body for a problem which has less-invasive solutions.

According to my doctor, and reading I've done on reliable websites, I've lost as much as could be expected from someone having stomach surgery... without surgery.
(70% of my excess body weight, 28% of my starting weight.)
I ate less & moved more. Little by little, controlling the calorie balance made the weight come off.

Wait... your ticker says you only have 43 lb to lose.
There's no reputable surgeon who will do stomach surgery for that.

Go talk to hanfordrose. She's a little bit older than you, also very short, and has lost 124 lb (without surgery; she knows several people in her family who had it, regained, and are now stuck with permanent health problems in addition to having the weight back).
She went from using a wheelchair to riding her bike all over her neighborhood & walking a lot, now looks like an average person.
Read her blog, look at her pictures. She, too used to be "short and round".

My best friend had the sleeve a year ago last June. She got shingles right after she git but that had nothing to do with the surgery. It has been great. She's lost about 120 lbs. and feels great. Wants to lose 20-30 more. She had no problems. Eats pretty much what she wants in small portions. She went on a low carb. Diet for two weeks before her surgery.

If I had the money, I would do it a heart beat...my insurance won't cover it.

I don't know first hand about that, but anytime you have to go under the knife, you are putting yourself at risk. My daughter thought about it as well and with much prayer and consideration she decided to try this app. So happy to report she has lost 170 looks amazing feels great, yes it took her over 18 months but those 18 months will come and go. Your stomach will hurt and they say that only 5% of the people that do it are successful. Which isn't a high enough average for me. It has been 3 years now, and yes she fluctuated up and down around 15 pounds but she has never been over 15 pounds over weight in the past 3 years. It's about taking it slow and being as healthy as you can because fast isn't fast enough. Most of the people that did those surgeries had lots of complications. Read for yourself, but it's worth whatever you have to do to get toYour best you as long as it's the least evasive way. Surgery is a last resort not the first, just my opinion.

I second that. You have to have over a certain BMI to qualify.

In the good/bad department... her ticker shows 46 lb to go.
So she didn't have the surgery, and has at least been maintaining for 5 months.
Hopefully something will click soon & she'll start losing & get to a healthy weight.
