Crying for no reason?

Anyone else find themselves getting unusually emotional on this weight loss journey? I've been surprised to find myself in tears a few times - I'm not sure why - thinking it has to do with the weight loss though - latest example - I listen to NPR and my favorite thing on air is Garrision Keiller (sp?) reading a poem every day. I love that poem. Today I started crying and found the poem incredibly sad - that's never happened before.
Curious if I'm on my own on this one...

I would get really randomly teary when working out and dieting. I discovered if I met my protein goals for the days instead of being way low with it I was less teary. There was, for me at least, a definite correlation between my diet and moodiness.0

I once cried because a cat video was so cute, and I couldn't handle it. Wish I was joking.
I don't know if you can directly tie it in to weight loss. I would just say to own it; nothing wrong with a poem making you feel an emotion and having a reaction to it!0 -
*shrugs* I cry when I watched Blade Runner last night. I think it's just being really responsive to the art. And hey, why not?
I doubt it has anything to do with your diet particularly.0 -
BREAKING BAD SPOILER ALERT!
I cried when Walt died on BB. Actually I balled my eyes out. Then I ate some chocolate...
I doubt that crying is diet related unless there are other emotional issues surrounding your weight loss.0 -

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Breaking Bad's 2nd half of the last season because I don't want it to be over.
Plus the internet ruined it for me and told me everyone I loved on that show died. (Not you, haha. Unfortunately most sites have never heard of spoiler warnings right after the final episode airs!)0 -
Yep. I feel as though I am more sensitive to comments and things that I find relative to me that bring back memories of whatever that it may be.
Yes especially when I am changing my life.0 -
I posted a similar question when I started MFP a few months ago and nothing has changed! I think a big part is that I wasn't used to hunger, and now when I feel hungry it's real! I get really emotional, dramatic and unreasonable when I'm really hungry. It's pretty much the same as when I haven't slept well for a few days!
Plus, restricting calories is never a fun thing to do so it's bound to have an affect on emotions!0 -
We were watching Doctor Who on Netflix today. Wilf gets me every time.
He did that before I was dieting, though.0 -
I have had my eyes tear up while working out randomly...other than that, nothing out of the norm.0

Oh crap! I probably should have thought of the spoiler thing. Sorry.
It finished here ages ago but I never got to watch it on cable. My sister gave me the complete series at Christmas and I have been obsessed by it. In fact some nights, I was even dreaming about it!
I actually took a little break during the final season because I knew it would be bad. Then I just bit the bullet. The final song....sob....has a whole new meaning for me now.

No problemo! By now, everyone else (but me) should have seen it. I really can't understand why I still can't watch it one year out, though!
I used to binge watch it though..once got the entire first season done in one day. Finished at sunrise, haha.0 -

Me too! If I can get through almost any episode of Doctor Who without tearing up it's a big thing for me.
(And now I shall go back to lurking and never commenting. The Doctor will bring me out every time though)0 -
Last time around I reduced my carbs a fair bit and then decided to go into Subway on a whim. The first bite into that Sub bought a river of tears and I just burst out crying for no real reason lol0

I've had this happen a few times while doing cardio. Nothing emotional going on in my head, but tears just streaming down my face. I attributed it to emotional baggage stored in my fat being released.0

I have a couple of days each month where I cry for no reason...0
-
Yes, that happens to me. But it's because I have suffered from depression since I was in elementary school/junior high, so.... unrelated to my food intake. Eating too little can make me more irritable though.0
-
Yes, this happened to me. I figured it was because I wasn't distracting myself with overeating "eating my feelings".0
-
Yeah, I've cried a few times. But it almost always had something to do with seeing my body change and being confused. I cried today when I realized I am smaller and weigh less than I did in middle school. Otherwise, I'm just emotional about daily life as before.0

Congrats! That's an awesome accomplishment!
I started crying today when the youtube video I was working out to stopped working... For me it is diet related simply because I'm frustrated with the process.

That sounds hormonal.
Diet shouldn't cause uncontrollable/unexplainable crying.0 -

I've lost 7 pounds in 3 weeks, and am definitely eating enough- the weight just really seems to be shedding this time around for me. I only have 20 pounds to lose overall, so that's a big percentage of my weightless goal. I'm a little hungry at times, but not much. I'm also consistently doing a healthy exercise plan of about 30minutes 4 times a week, plus stuff like snow shoveling, which I can't predict:)
I haven't worked up to running yet- too much ice and snow on the ground, but when I used torun on a treadmill, I would have that happen near the end of a really good run.

Actually yesterday I had a big break down in my room. I was upset that all my work: eating clean, cutting calories, working out every single day have barely produced results in my physique (although I have lost 8lbs) in the 3 weeks I have been doing it.
I was serious on quitting yesterday, but when I woke up this morning I had renewed energy to keep pushing on. I am slowly convincing myself to be patient and that I will not see results unless I keep pushing through the pain. I also convinced myself to feel proud about the weight I have lost, considering it was a pretty big amount for such little time. It doesn't feel like I have lost weight, though.
I keep telling myself, "Once the extra fat is off, I will start seeing thinner thighs, flatter stomach, and slimmer waist."
Consistency is key.0 -

Thank you for your concern, it's so sweet of you to care:) I know I'm eating enough calories though - I log everything that goes in my mouth, as well as all the exercise I do. I even have high cal days- yesterday. I ate 1800 calories (which was planned) I do that 1-2 days a week, and eat approx. my recommended calories every other day. I pay most attention to my weekly not daily totals; I average maybe 500 cals short a week- this past week I believe I was 1000 under, which would only be an additional 1/3 pound.
I think it's normal to get hungry occasionally, that's what snacks are for:). There are many reasons to be hungry, not just lack of calories. For me, hunger is usually a symptom of imbalance in nutrients. Snacks for me are usually protein + fruit for that reason.0 -

Eating clean doesn't make you lose weight. Neither does working out every day, especially if you are using the MFP net default method. Your current approach does not sound all that sustainable to me0 -
I cry during yoga a lot - she works us really hard, and then we do guided meditation for a bit. It's like this release and it's so odd to explain.
Anyway, if you think about it, losing weight is a huge change - mentally, physically, emotionally. You're literally changing your life. That's a pretty big deal and it makes sense that you might be feeling more sensitive.0 -

Oh my goodness, you're doing awesome!!! 8 pounds is 3 weeks is so great!!! If you've lost 8 pounds, what makes you say you don't have results inyiur physique? Are you talking measuring? I measure a lot of things- breast, chest, biceps, waist, hips, thighs, calves.... But. I also take pictures at the beginning of every month. I just took my Feb photo, and was SHOCKED at how different I look in areas that. I don't measure. When I looked at the photos, my whole 'batwing' shoulder, underarm area looks soooooo different. So maybeyou should start taking photos so you can see the difference? I would never have known about that progress without them.
Also- this is just my opinion, but I cringe when I her people talk about things like 'pushing through pain'. Why does a healthy lifestyle have to be painful? I think it sets us up for failure. I used to look at exercise that way.... Which is how I tore the cartilege on both sides of my hips during marathon training. I thought I needed to tougher.... To push through the pain. Actually, the pain was telling me to stop.
Now, I am dedicated to taking it slow. To only do what feels good. If it feels good, it makes me want to come back for more of it! I'm loving my workouts and my diet more than. I ever have because I'm allowing myself to eat what I love, and I'm allowing my workouts to be fun. To skip the exercises I just doing feel like for the day.
Hope this is helpful to you- because in my book you're kicking *kitten*!
