how to not let the scale determine your mood??

many of us know that our bodies fluctuate day to day because of various reasons. We understand this. Then why is that we sometimes obsess over that number? (not saying that everyone does) but some, including me.. take that "number" a little too ...seriously.
If I happen to go up even 0.5 lbs one day (even though I know body weight fluctuates), honestly, i still get a little down.. my logic is telling me, "really, sarah?" but my emotions are telling me otherwise.
That is why I am only trying to weigh myself once a week. (hasn't worked out too well for me yet..)
1. Do others have this love/hate relationship with that "number"?
2. WHAT kinds of things can you do to begin to accept the fact that our weight fluctuates?
3. HOW can we make little changes to becoming "less obsessive"?

Don't weigh yourself every day.
Honestly, it does more harm than good.0 -
Oh my goodness! I can totally relate to this. I am trying to relax more about it, but it completely affects my mood if the scale goes up. I recognize that is is not good for me to feel this way but I can't help it.0

I usually weigh daily. Some days I'm down, other days it is up, or holding steady. I just like to see a downward trend. And the days that I get on the scale and hit a new low are really exciting. Even though I expect it to be back up a little the following day. I weigh every morning after using the restroom and before eating or drinking anything.0

Girl, I hear ya!! I only weigh myself once a week, and I'm like the contestants on The Biggest Loser & try to do a "last minute workout" the day before my weigh-in. I've been pretty consistent this time around & have averaged a 2 lbs/wk weight loss. The 3rd week I didn't lose anything & thankfully didn't gain either, but I was still bummed out! I also gauge how my clothes fit-if my jeans fit, then i don't sweat a lb or 2.0
