I'm beyond frustrated! I'm 44 years old and need to lose 45lbs. Not quite sure where to start!
Tried other diets with little results. Doctor said I don't have a choice anymore I need to lose weight. I need help getting started!

  • I am 33, I am looking to lose around 40 pounds. I am going to do it mainly with diet change. I would like to manage it slow and steady with a high protein diet and staying with in my caloric recommendation from MFP. I feel we have similar motivation (doctor says so! )but I am also doing it because I wasn't too feel better and hopefully reduce anxiety.
  • Hello!!! Frustration seems to be one of the most common feelings among us trying to lose weigh. What I've done to encorage myself is to really educate myself, do some research, don't believe in any magic potions or magic diets. Any diet that deprives you for nutrients ( like high orotein, no carbs, no sugars, etc) will harm you and won't be sustainable if what you want (besides shredding lbs) is to be healthy. And sorry to say, but diet alone won't help you succeed. When you start dieting and losing weight, the first thing to go is muscle, and you actually need that muscle to fight fat back! A quick 5 min workout everyday will help you gain the streght you need! Increase by a minute as you go. Include cardio, some dancing or walking in your rutine as well, cardio will be your bff. I just started a couple of weeks ago, I do not weight myself. My goal is not to lose weight but to become a healthier person. I can hinestly say that I had ling time without feeling this well. No migraines in the past month, I feel stronger, full of energy, well rested in the morning. I promise you excercise, a healty diet and lots of water will help you reach your goals. Good luck!!! :)

So glad each of you are here... Welcome! :D

@nani0886 you're awesome!!! <3 Great tips shared with the other new users.

Great idea ... building up your workout bit by bit is what I did as well and continue to do. It makes it more realistic than planning an hour workout if you've not been doing it long.

I began doing a Leslie Sansone Walking Video (you can find them on youtube), you know you do it and feel good about it when you start out slow. Sometimes we set lofty goals and beat ourselves up feeling we've failed. I think I was able to do like 2-3 minutes of a Leslie Sansone video..my muscles were.. well, not built up like they are now. I still have a ways to go but when I look back at that I see huge progress.

It's all about learning to care about ourselves more and learning to get healthy..least that's what my goals have changed to. SO nani..I do understand when you say you don't weigh yourself and that your goal is energy, health and strength.
