Why is it called a pec deck machine?

Why deck? I tried googling to find the answer but barely got any info. There was one guy on another site who said it was named after the inventor, but I could find no repeats of this claim anywhere. Sorry if this has been asked before. I'm just bored and like to fill my brain with insignificant things, lol.

One of first major chain machines developed were created by Arthur Jones under the Nautilus brand. One particular machine had a bench press and "pec decline flye" together as one machine. I believe this is where is came from.
