I may be the only one in this. but i get all embarassed when people complement on weight loss etc and i try to shrug it aside. Does anyone else get embarassed? i dont know how to get over it and accept them graciously! lol! ive worked hard enough for it!

Just say thank you! You've worked hard a little reward is a good thing.0

Oh yes! My weight has yo-yo'd for as long as I can remember. The worst was many many years ago when a woman said to me "wow! you have lost so much weight! you're so skinny, now" right in front of a new boyfriend and I'm like great now he knows I was a fatty, LOL!
Someone said take the compliments, you worked hard for it and like you said, you have worked hard for it. I'm looking forward to when people start saying it to me, because it is one of the signs that I am achieving what I have worked so hard for.
Congratulations on your weight loss! You look so skinny :happy:0 -
I hate getting compliments about anything, and weight loss is one of the biggest ones I hate.
I know I worked hard to get there and I know it's something to be proud of. I just think that growing up as a really chubby girl;I tend to get very embarrassed every time weight is even mentioned. Be it positively or negatively, it is a sore spot for me.0 -
Depending on how it's said I either like it or don't. We live in a culture that values beauty and I try to rally against that, in my own head. I'm here to lose weight to get healthy, not to fit into some image of how a woman SHOULD look.
Sometimes compliments can thus sound like backhanded insults about how I used to look. Most of the time people say really nice things though, like "I can tell you've been working hard!" which makes me feel good
Best,

i do sometimes, i was anorexic years ago and was really small but even then i thought i was fat. so now when people tell me i'm losing weight i have to double check to make sure they're being serious. working on getting passes that.0

I know EXACTLY how you feel. Most of the time if someone ask if I've lost weight (I've lost about 45lbs) I generally just say, "Ya, I've lost a few pounds." It's totally embarrassing, however, it's not THAT embarrassing. If it's a girl I like, I generally don't mind too much0

You smile nicely, and say 'thank you'.0
