I don't know what you classify as 'inexpensive' but at my sporting goods store they had PolarFT7s and Sportsline Duos (what I got) for $119. Those are both extremely accurate!0

I have a polar FT4 and I paid right around $100. I've heard some find them cheaper on ebay. Polar is accurate and well worth the cost!0

I just got the Polar FT4 about a month ago off of Amazon for $89. I love it.
I've also just seen a Polar Bluetooth strap that can supposedly sync up with smart phones and such, eliminating the need for the watch. I think that was $79.0 -
I go NB hrm with chest strap from target for about 60$ It's the most accurate hrm I've ever used. I absolutley love it!0

I'm from the UK - I bought my Polar FT4 from Amazon for £59.99 - i LOVE it! totally accurate! Only downside I had was that it doesn't work in a chlorine swimming pool - the chlorine affects it apparently.
I totally recommend it though x0
