hi, I've been on MFP for a little over a month and just discovered these forums!!! Yay me! Ok about me...I'm 45 and I started my journey at a weight of 191...how I got there is quite a story in itself...I was married to an alcoholic for 15 years and the first 5 years weren't so bad but when we started to have kids things got worst for him and his drinking and for my slumbering into depression...fast forward 15 years and 3 kids later I injured my knee with a stupid slip on ice in a parking lot during a snow storm and severed a ligament...result was about a month on crutches followed by a cane....and if that wasn't enough I fell again the next spring on the only ice patch left in Quebec and severed what was left of said ligament so back to crutches and cane...my main job at the time, massage therapist so no more working for this girl at least not in that field. That doesn't help depression moods I can tell you that...fast forward to fall of that year, my mother passed away from cancer and my grand mother a few months later...further down in depression and major weight gain (hovering around 195). Following spring I met a guy on an online game, he became more than a friend, he showed me I was worth something and gave me the courage to turn my life around. I packed up my kids and left my husband. Lover man and I kept dating. That episode lasted a year and half...I was out of my old life but still depressed. Missed my mom more than ever! In May of last year I started working as a therapist again in a spa...few days a week but I was struggling, carrying extra weight doesn't agree with that kind of job. Fast forward a bit last fall lover man and I took a trip together and while away he acted really jerky. When we got back the discussions we had turned into not so nice words and at one point he mentioned my weight...slap in the face but also kick in the butt...a week after our return, I left lover man, quit smoking, and signed up at the gym, all on the same day. I hired a personal coach for an hour and she gave me a beginners training program. I lost about 5 pounds during the month of December...In January I found a weight loss coach and learned to eat clean and lost another 5 pounds. Last week I began a new gym program a bit more intense and so far it's paying off. I was at 179.4 this morning and still going strong, more motivated than ever! I eat well (actually more than I used to) I train hard and I'm very dedicated to conquer this. I feel a whole lot better about myself, work is no longer a struggle because I already have more endurance. So that's my story...feel free to add me for motivation, I got tons in store :-)
