I don't have a lot of money so I'm looking for shoes at a max of $100.

  • I just learned about nike+...but they would max your budget. Might be worth it though.:ohwell:

I've always been about New Balance. In my experience, they are very well constructed high quality shoes - and are more affordable than Nike/Adidas or bigger brands.

That being said, I LOVE the Adidas Megabounce shoes. it really feels like running on a cushion. I don't own them (out of my price range), I just got to try them on in the store and jogged around. :blushing:

    I'm really one for cushion/comfort/support/flexability.

Nike has a shoe Air Equalon that's on clearance for $94. It's really good. I LOVE it.

but, you really have to find waht's best for you.

I have a pair if Nike's and found them cheap at Kohls they normally have a sale. I think I got mine for about $40 or something and they have lasted me a while now.

Asics...they are cheaper than Brooks but still more specific to your foot. Nike shoes look cool but make their does 'one arch fits all' and usually don't have the right support unless you have an incredibly average foot and perfect gait.

I love Brooks, really. They're a little on the pricey side, but I think it's worth it.
Though I need a new pair myself, so I'll be watching this page. :)
  • Your best bet is probably to go to running store where they can look at how you walk and fit you to a shoe for your foot. They know the shoes and what will work for you. These stores have shoes at various price ranges and do have some for 100 dollars. Don't just buy any cheap shoe, plan for long run and invest in something thats good for you.

Exactly. Hibbett Sports, Runabout Sports, and other smaller specialty stores in your area will know what to do. Lady Footlocker, Footlocker, and ****'s Sporting Goods won't know what to do. I know, I have worked at ****'s and I now work at Hibbett and I'm right next door to Footlocker hehe

I love love love brooks! I wear them to workout and for work (I am a nurse in the operating rooms and I work my 40 hours in about 2-3 days, so I am standing the whole time and my feet don't hurt!)

I need to see about Asics though, if they really are just as good but cheaper!

Well I don't think they're 100% as good because they use gel instead of silicone and from what I've seen don't offer as wide of a range of support....it's more neutral vs. support, and Brooks have neutral, middle support, tons of support, and control as well for the people who turn their feet out or in too much. But I have no gait problems and just need a lot of support for my flat feet so Asics are fine for me.

My favourite shoes are Asics as well. I went to a running store and got them to look at my gait to suggest some shoes and then tried a bunch on (all brands). I would try one type on the left foot and another on the right foot until I narrowed it down to one pair...which is how I've fallen in love with the asics nimbus 9... I really don't like the 10s...I think the asics nimbus 9 retailed last winter for about $100 in the US.

Anyways, then I went and bought a couple of pairs on ebay as they were much cheaper. You don't want to know how much shoes are in Canada compared to the states. I bought a couple of pairs as I don't think they make the nimbus 9 anymore.

Another trick I use is to put in Superfeet insoles. I find they give much better arch support than the insoles that come with the shoes. These retail around $40 in Canada. I don't know how much they are in the US.
