Equipment for small spaces?

I've been walking/jogging, swimming, and dancing for awhile now. I feel like these are great things to keep going with, however I'm wondering what equipment I might add in the use of to have more options for indoor's workouts. I live in a freakishly tiny house, like 1200 sqft tiny. I don't have room for a traditional treadmill or other similar cardio machine. What would be some versatile tools/pieces of equipment that I could use in my workouts, then either put under a bed or stow away in a drawer? Looking for both cardio and strength options and recommendations!

LOL - I live in a 1200 sq ft apartment and it's one of the largest in our building. But I understand what you mean; I couldn't possibly have a treadmill in here.

My eqpt suggestion: I have a bar for pull ups that I hang in the doorway. I also use a yoga mat for yoga (can be cardio, strength, and flexibility depending on which routine I'm doing). If I didn't have access to the apartment gym, I'd also consider adjustable dumbells, a bosu, and/or TRX system.

Get a big sandbag. You can do all kinds of exercises with it and it'll take up very little real estate.

Do you mean a literal bag of sand? Or am I missing something?

Kettlebells. They take up very little space and you can get incredible results with them.

And yes, the sandbags (actual bags of sand) can be a very good piece of equipment.

Yes, a literal bag of sand. It is an awesome training implement. You can use it for any lift you would normally do with a barbell but with a lot less weight because it is so hard to wrestle with compared to a bar.

The bag of sand for exercising is filled with sand but looks sort of like a dufflebag. Some people even put a bag of sand in a duffle to start the real ones just have handles in proper positioning.

Kettlebells are good for cardio and strenth, trx, bosu and some freeweights (dumbbells) make up my little gym right now. All my favs! I want a sand bag. Hope that helps

Dumbbells - adjustable ones, as someone else mentioned, are great because they don't take up much space, but they aren't cheap. I have regular dumbbells stacked in corner of my living room - 10 sets - they stack up at the end of the sofa in the corner and don't take up much space at all. I do all my workouts in my living room, lately with fitnessblender.com workouts, over 400 free workouts that give you cardio, HIIT, yoga, weights/strength, body weight exercises, etc. Great for working out at home, even in a small space.

i have this and love it for shorter workouts. Like adding 10-15 minutes on to the end of weight training. or using it for intervals. I figured since i have workout for years this would be a breeze. I have barely made it past the 15 minutes mark on this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016BUR7I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
