Hi Friends. I have a littlie dilemma. my body is reshaping itself.my butt is higher my thighs are firm power houses.my traps are becoming something serious and my biceps are shaping up nicely but the scale has not really moved. my pants are falling off! but nope the scale hasn't really budged. Im not obsessed with the number but I wonder am I doing things right. Im eating on a calorie deficit. working out a ton but its mostly lifting.so im thinking I should really up my cardio?

The scale isnt the only way to tell if you are going in the right direction. Remember that muscles is more dense than fat so a pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat.0

It sounds to me like you are moving in the right direction. Like it has been stated muscle weighs more than fat. You can easily become smaller in size while weighing the same, especially since you mostly lift weights. You are replacing the fat with lean muscle.-2

The scale really is just a unit of measurement. It doesn't matter *what* you weigh. If your body is going through recomp, you're losing inches, seeing results, etc., then that's the goal, right? Most people when they lose weight do it because they don't want to be fat, and the scale is on;y part of that.
You're progressing exactly how you should be, screw the scale. Take pictures, take measurements, that's way more important.0 -
Maybe your goal should be a size instead of pounds lost? I was obsessed with getting to a certain number and my body would not do it. However, I did lose inches and was wearing a size 8 which was my goal.0

A resounding YES - yes, you are. And no - you don't need to up your cardio - unless you want to. You're almost definitely retaining water, which can take several weeks to flush out of your system. Chance are that within the next couple of weeks, you'll see a pretty good drop in weight. Just keep drinking plenty of water (I know, it sounds counter-productive) to help with that.0 -
Take a sledgehammer to your scale. Seriously. You want to know if you're losing body fat? By your measurements and by the way your clothes fit. It really is simple as that.0

Sounds like you're getting results regardless of the number on the scale! Great job!!!!0

your scale is superficial. ignore it and focus on abilities.0

I'm in the same boat. I've been consistent since Sept and have only lost 5lbs however have lost 10inches and dropped from a size S to XS!
I also have some pretty visible muscles.
At this point I don't care what I weigh as long as my clothes keep getting loose.
I am the perfect candidate for that "guess your weight" carnival game (no one believes me when I tell them)0 -
Throw away the scale! I know easier said than done because I am guilty of doing this same thing. My trainer used measurements for me to see the results and took pictures. Nothing hits home how far you have come like a before and in-progress picture. Some months the measurements were down with zero movement in the scale. Other months the scale was down and measurements just a little. Keep up the good work!0

Change your unit of measure!
Tape measure?
How tight your clothes are?
How much you're lifting?
How fast you can run 5km?
If you can squeeze through a gap in a fence?

whoa, muscle does not weigh more than fat(it weighs the same but takes up less space) and you dont replace fat with muscle. you can burn fat when you weightlift and the muscle will show through and they will get stronger. you cant turn fat into muscle, you increase your muscle mass with lifting and eating at a surplus. and a woman is not going to gain muscle as quickly as a man either. anyone that eats at a deficit will not gain much muscle if any while in a deficit but you will lose the fat and see the muscle underneath and your body will change, you will retain water too so your muscles can repair themselves.
onefootforward- is you want to do cardio 2-3 times a week then do so , but if you are losing the inches (which means fat loss) then I would not worry about it unless you think it will make a difference. I lost inches and fat before it even registered on the scale.

Soo i think im gonna buy a bikini take some pics and go for some runs.not just for weight loss they make me feel acomplished.0

Your in good company. I started lifting about 3 months ago and my weight loss stalled, but I'm more defined and clothes are falling off. The way I see it, I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing, because it's a hell of a lot better than what I was doing 6 months ago! I truly believe it will all come together!~0

Sounds good to me?0

Unless you're going to carry the scale around and step on it in front of everyone you see to show them what it says - then who cares what it says?! If you look better and feel better then that little number doesn't mean a thing.0
-
How long have you been lifting? You're obviously losing fat so don't worry, the scale will catch up. Sometimes water retention can mask fat loss for awhile.

im the same way. ive only lost 5 pounds in 2 months but my body is shaping up nicely. dont stop lifting but add a 30 to 1 hour walk in the morning before breakfast. it seems to be helping me. think more as far as chlothing size rather than the number on the scale, google some muscle vs fat pictures and you will see the difference.0

You could still be in the water retention stage, although you should be at the very end of it if so. For me it's usually a month to 6 weeks. If the scale doesn't move soon then I'd consider decreasing calories slightly. It shouldn't be necessary to cut them drastically, since like I said you are obviously losing fat.0 -

Why does it matter what the scales say?! It's hard to get out of that way of thinking if you've been used to weighing yourself, trust me I know!! But if you're seeing changes in your body then that's all the motivation you need! A number is just a number at the end of the day so as long as you look and feel the way you want to, who cares if you're X on the scales!! Keep doing what you're doing if you're seeing changes, and maybe start measuring yourself and take progress pics every couple of weeks!! This is what I'm now doing rather than weighing myself!0
