Hi everyone.
I originally joined for the food diary. I started this "Year of small changes" on Facebook with new challenges each week. This was one of them.
I struggle with my weight. At first I blamed my husband because when we moved in together and I cooked all of the meals, I changed my eating habits to be more like his (meat, potato, vegetable). Then I blamed medications that I had been prescribed. THEN I turned 40!
I am now 44 years old and instead of blaming someone or something, I have decided to try to do something about it!
So I may whine and throw temper tantrums occassionally; and I still need to throw some physical exercise into my sedentary life, but I have been signing in each day and logging my meals and snacks.
Thanks for providing a positive place for us to come for support (instead of running to the cupboard or refrigerator).
Joanne

Hi Joanne, welcome to mfp. You are off to a good start. I was wondering what some of you small changes goals are?0

Thanks. The challenges are based on the book "52 Small Changes: One Year to a Happier, Healthier You" by Brett Blumenthal.
So far the challenges have been:
Week 1: Drink more water
Week 2: Get your zzzzzzzz's
Week 3: Keep off the couch
Week 4: Food diary
Week 5: See the glass as half full
I receive an email each week with a new challenge. It's fun & frustrating.

I'm new here too. Looking for some friends to add on here? I'm 16 and I put on a lot of weight last year when I left high school, so now I am trying to get down to my lowest weight of 115 lbs, I am currently 140 ish lbs and I am 5'3 so it's not good! Chubby.0

I am new to mfp as well. I am hoping to lose some weight and perhaps make new friends. As of right now I am signed up to run/walk 2 5ks and possibly a few more for this year.0

Nice to meet all of you!
Today I had a terrible food day. Never fails - snowstorm equals junk food (and 2015 has dumped ALOT of snow on us in the Northeast). Who wants to eat celery when it's snowing? lol It could have been much worse but I learned something.....a sausage, egg & cheese bagel from Dunkin Donuts has about HALF of the allotted calories and fat that MFP has determined I can have in order to lose weight. HALF!
Ugh. Tomorrow is a new day. I will do better.
I hope you are having a better day than I. Here's to new friends and new beginnings!0 -
I saw a quote today that I want to stick on my refrigerator.
"Don't complain about things you are not willing to change"0
