miss working out

Right, that's two weeks of not working out now I got down with a really bad cold and a small asthma attack. The cold is gone and asthma is almost gone now, which is good. I went swimming on Friday, and even got a new time record (1000m breast in 23:49) but I could not swim on Saturday. I really miss workout out big time! That's all!

Well.. I'll try working out again today if I continue feeling good, though I'm still on asthma medications. At least the cold seems to be gone. I have a longer bodyrock workout lined up that I can also do slowly (do 50x, 25y, etc...) which will be good for the beginning. At least swimming works.0

That's not a bad time for your swim, but i dont know your age or swimming ability. If you swim for more time than the 24 min or so (i swim for 60 min average) make sure you take a drink. It may be a good idea to have some dextrose in it for the instant energy. You will burn off those calories quickly and a lot more on top as you will be able to work harder and for longer. In particular if you are older may i suggest a protein based recovery drink after. This helps your muscles recover quicker (at 49 I find my recovery can be slow after a hard training session, up to 24 hours). As you get older it takes more time for the glycogen levels to rise ready to train again.0

Thanks paul
I'm almost 41, and probably the fittest I've ever been. One thing I've never learnt though is patience. I go to the pool every time and think: lets do some technical sessions. And then I just try to break my speed record again and am dead afterwards. If I swim just a tiny bit slower I can easily go on forever. Which probably means that my technique sucks My recovery time is good though! I did some 35 minutes of bodyrock on Monday and Tuesday, big bag training with pushups, burpees and core exercises inbetween yesterday and went swimming today. (wanted to do boxing again, but I first need better gloves, or let my hands heal) *sigh* The usual speed record test, but at least some crawling attempts and purely technical breast swimming afterwards.0
