Sugar Cleanse

In order to help me stick to my goal of a 28 day sugar cleanse, I'm posting this out there for all to see! I recently noticed myself eating candy for no reason. Ice cream? Yes please. Cupcakes? Never say no. I did some research and decided to try a sugar cleanse. The purpose is to curb cravings and recalibrate your taste buds. Basically, I've cut out all food with added sugar and the obvious things like candy. I think it's really going to be a challenge, but for the better! Have any of you ever done a sugar cleanse, or a cleans in general? Tell me about it!

I'm interested in this too! I have such a large sweet tooth and love love love CARBS and SWEETS!!! But I eat way to much of them. Stick a tray of cupcakes in front of me and I can easily take down 3. What are the details of your plan and what kind of foods are you eating? Do individual food items just have to have below a certain number of sugar grams per serving or none at all?0

Oh boy am I familiar with this!! I am on day 22 of no sugar. The first three or four days were hell. My body felt like I had a bad case of the flu with a migrane. This is the sugar withdrawal. It DOES go away. To help, I am eating fruits to still give me the sugar, but natrually and not processed. That is how I am losing weight for the most part....no processed food and especially no sugar. I use Truvia as a substitute which is great as it has no calories and NO aftertaste.
Good luck to you!! It IS possible!! ; )0 -
I am also interested!!! I am a FREAK when it comes to sugar- major addict over here.....
I am so afraid to do a cleanse- I will probably keel over and die from lack of sugar intake within hours lol
Very curious...................... would be cool to start some sort of sugar-aholics challenge to keep everyone on track and accountable....0 -
Yay for all the interest! To answer your questions:
1. Yes, I can still eat fruit. And please believe I am eating it by the pound! You can eat all fruits and veggies, though green fruits (apples, pears, green bananas) are generally lower in sugar. Veggies and fruits have naturally occurring sugars.
2. I decided to go cold turkey, though on Dr. Oz' website he lists a really great sugar cleanse that gradually cuts down and allows for natural sweeteners like Stevia. I literally do not have one item in my kitchen right now that is processed or pre-made. Oh except for a Healthy Choice Steamer for emergencies, but only one of their selections has no sugar.
3. You really have to watch out for hidden sugars. Almost anything ending in "ol" or "ose" is a sugar and it's in bread, waffles, canned soups etc etc. The worse part for me is BBQ sauce and pizza dough lol0
