Need some cardio ideas while injured

Hey everyone. So I did a number on my leg today at work, to the point it is all black and blue. There is no actual injury other than the bruising, but it has made continuing on the c25k program for the next few days impossible. I tried this am but after the first 10 minutes of walking (yes I am still in the mostly walking days) my leg was so painful I had to stop. I have a stationary bike at home, but the fact the bruising goes up most of my buttocks (sorry for visual) it has made sitting on it kind of hard.

I want to continue to do some exercise, but it seems my two favorites are out the wi down for the next few days. Does anyone have any suggestions on cardio I can do that may be easier on my leg? I don't have access to a gym or a pool (wish I did), but do have a wii fit, computer (in case there are you tube videos people suggest) and a rebounder (though I think that might be just as painful).

You might just want try some yoga or pilates for a while or other low impact exercises while your leg heals. Try the elliptical and see how that works if you still want to workout your legs. There's nothing wrong with taking it easy to heal up an injury. Also have you considered focusing on upper body while your legs heal? You can always work on strength training while your legs are injured.

You might want to try chair aerobics or boxing (youtube), just anything that gets your heart rate up.

    Try this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xC9khisFPA
It's one of the ones I cycle through when I'm allowed (stuck doing PT only right now)

I wish I had access to an elliptical :(. I will definitely be focusing on upper body for a bit.

While the above suggestions are great, I was just wondering if anyone had any additional suggestions. I get bored of I'm doing the same workout many days in a row lol.

Prior to my weight loss/physical fitness journey, that is exactly what I would have done. However, I find if I allow my self "time off" I tend to use it as an excuse and have trouble getting back into the routine.

Why does it have to be cardio?

You hate resistance exercise and all it's benefits?

Not at all. I already do strengh training. And it "has to be" some form of cardio so I eat more lol.

Without moving your lower body you're probably not going to burn all that many calories.

I am sure I'm not going to burn that much, and if I only burn enough to have chocolate or seconds at a meal I'd be thrilled lol.

You should still be able to eat chocolate without getting extra cals from working out. I agree with taking the time off for it to heal up enough to be comfortable while walking.

I could fit it in if I wanted it enough but I prefer to use my base calorie goal on meals/snacks then use what I burn on a "treat" if that makes sense.

That is an excellent reason then, to make the eating goal realistic to adhere to.

But I'll second/third/fourth the advice to either rest, or get out of the deficit eating.

The body recovers slower in a diet already, might as well not make repairs take longer.

So make it maintenance lifting, enjoy the progress on the bar you'll not normally see, keep burning some fat - and that takes care of eating more too.

Not sure what you mean by that statement. Are you trying to say my calorie intake is too low because I don't have room for chocolate everyday? My calorie goal is realistic, and set by my MD. No, not VLCD, just 1300 cals as my base.

I was agreeing that raising the daily burn so that eating less is still a sustainable amount is an excellent reason.
Because of course if you burn more, and take off set deficit amount, you get to eat more - compared to not burning as much daily.

I should have included the quote I was commenting on.

Thank you again everyone for the awesome suggestions. Thankfully, today, it didn't hurt as badly as yesterday. I was able to go for 30 min walk, but didn't push it. I still plan on going easy the next few days, especially since I'll be working and that in itself will likely be painful. Aleve/motrin cocktail ftw lol.
