Need advise please

so my names Nikki I live in the uk. I'm very very new to this I'm aiming to lose weight. I need to lose quite abit I've lost 9lb so far in 3 weeks but I feel theres more I could be doing. I have no clue on fitness really I'm trying to do 30 mins on a stationry bike at a mod to vigorous effort every day and waking places much more often instead of driving. What else could I be doing to help myself get fit. My daily cal intake now is 1200 which I find quite easy to stick to although I do have harder days having a family of 3 young children and a partner that never gains weight. Any help or advise is really appreciated x

9 pounds in 3 weeks is wonderful, but as a general rule, the quicker the weight loss the harder it is to maintain. A better idea might be to set weight loss at a pound a week and stick to those settings. As for 1200 cals a day, thats honestly far too few for anyone over 4 and a half feet tall to be eating long term. I'm going to assume you're an average height female (between 5 foot 2 and 5 foot 8). A good rule is to vary your intake over the course of the week - such as 0-2 days under 1300 cals, 2-3 days under 1650, at least 1 day around 1800 and at least 1 day at or above maintenance cals (generally between 1800 and 2500 cals). Additionally, when you exercise, make sure you eat your calories back - your body needs cals to run efficiently and healthily. the varying cals will keep your metabolism guessing. if this seems to be too micromanaged for you, a good rule of thumb is to eat between 1450 and 1850 all the time. As for actual diet - keep salt intake low, drink lots of water, and pay attention to your macros ( the carbs, protein, and fat), you want to be very close to them, when possible. This stuff should get you close to your goal, like through the first half to 3/4ths of it, easily. Feel free to add me or ask more questions.
  • I think you should incorporate weight training into your regimen. A toned body looks much better and muscle burns serious calories. Seems to me that most people can get thin as a stick and not look good or healthy. Take a look at women who weight train (not women body builders on steroids) and you will see they look the best. The trick to body shaping with weights , is to stick with it , There is no 90 day beach body, It take months to notice change and years to sculpt what you want. But, it becomes addictive, time flies and you can look your best. Whatever you decide, the key is to stick with it. Good luck !
