What am I doing wrong? Keep gaining!!!

So 3 weeks in a row I've gained weight since starting Jillian Michaels Shred and adding more cardio. I've gained a total of 3.4 lbs. so far!! What am I doing wrong because I'm very frustrated? I eat very strict and within my macros, I weigh and log everything! Help!!

Your exercise calories are REALLY high. If you are using a fitbit, you should not be claiming calories for walk/run like exercises as well. Don you have negative calorie adjustments enabled? Also you have a lot of cup measurements. Weigh everything, except liquids.0

I use my heart rate monitor when I work out because I have the fitbit flex. I do have the negative calories on too, I will also start measuring everything with my scale from now on thank you.0

When doing cardio exercises, I count them as 1 calorie. My jawbone is already recording them, so that would be double dipping to count them as more.
The weighing part is the most important part of logging.0 -
Looking at your exercise I see that you are logging walking. Let your Fitbit do it's job and don't log the walking videos. It can throw your calorie count off as well. Whenever you log any exercise while wearing your Fitbit (like 30 DS) make sure that you log the exact start and stop times so it doesn't throw your exercise calories off.0

I log the exact times start and stop, I wear my heart rate monitor when doing my power walking workouts so I get negative calorie allowance after. Should I stop wearing my fitbit for workouts and just use my heart rate monitor?

also it could be water weight as well,but I agree you need to weigh you food(liquid should only be weighed in cups) anytime you start a new workout program your body can retain water.(learned that the hard way lol) also too much cardio they say(research) can cause you to gain weight as well. 30-60 min of cardio 3-4 days a week is all most people need.some dont exercise at all and still lose weight. if you can incorporate some resistance/weight training(lifting weights) the other days of the week if you dont already.This will help you retain any lean muscle you may have.0

I empathize with you. It is quite frustrating to workout hard and not see progress =(
If you are confident that your food and exercise calorie counts are accurate, I can think of two reasons you might still gain weight.
1. You're actually gaining muscle. You can check this by measuring your % of body fat.
2. If your body fat is increasing, then the problem might be hormonal. This essentially means that despite your good eating, your body "thinks" it is starving because one or more of a multitude of hormones (leptin, ghrelin, adiponectin, and/or others) are out of balance, signaling your body to store more fat, and defend the fat it has.
If 2 is the case, I have a few thoughts about how to approach it, but nothing sure. In the short term, I like the post above that suggests cut your exercise in half and see what happens.0 -

Just a suggestion. My doctor put me on a low carb diet 3 and a half weeks ago, So far I am losing really well.. 10# Ive been not worrying so much about calories but trying to keep my carbs around 60 a day. I usually have about a 100. Im sure it will slow down after a while but you might want to switch it up some and give it a try.

HRMs don't necessarily produce accurate caloric estimations for walking .... you're not weighing foods .... classic eating more and burning less than you think.0

there is no way that walking burns as many calories as what you've got recorded.0

I use my HRM for my power walks too..
1. It doesn't give me such a high amount of calories as yours. (same video's but your stats are different of mine of course)
2. I only eat back 1/4 of those burned calories ( because of over estimation of devices)
3. I weigh every solid food and measure every liquid.
and it goes perfect for me..pounds are falling off.0 -

Low carb produces a water weight loss. Each gram of glycogen stored in the muscles is accompanied by 2-3 grams of water. Green tea is not a magic bullet ... it doesn't produce weightloss. Fruits are carb heavy ....

I wear my Fitbit all the time, I use a HRM when I run (treadmill), and on interval days (I do the crossramp at the gym with intervals of high/medium resistance) I make sure I note the times so my Fitbit doesn't double dip the calories. I do eat back about 35% of the exercise calories from these activities. I do not log calories burned from any other source (such as lifting which I do 3-4 days a week), yoga (which I do to limber up muscles), or when I add an exercise video at home (however since I wear my Fitbit it includes these in my daily steps. When I have days where I get more calories under the Fitbit adjustment I don't eat those either. The only thing I do not weigh (or measure for liquids) is water, everything else is done by weight (then I select the entry that is closest to the weight, without going under). For example if I have a banana that's 96 grams, I'll often just use the 100 gram entry instead of figuring out the math0

I deactivate my footpod when do my cardio because it really throws off my garmin. I also do not add my steps when I log my walking exercise.0

I just started using the Jawbone with this site and have a question? It appears that when I use the elliptical at the gym the JaWbone does not count any activity. It's only when walking or running. Do you see the same thing? Not sure if I should add under exercise or not0
