I just started using the Jawbone with this site and have a question? It appears that when I use the elliptical at the gym the JaWbone does not count any activity. It's only when walking or running. Do you see the same thing? Not sure if I should add under exercise or not

Start a thread with this question, as you're not suppose to hijack on someone else's.
    Actually, I PM'd you

Just a thought, but if this mystery is worrisome, maybe try to simplify your life and not link exercise to your weight loss goals. It seems to me that trying to track calorie burn is very imprecise because of the large number of estimated variables. And eating back an imprecisely determined calories burned by eating back a precisely measured calorie consumption seems to be asking for confusion. Have peace of mind and simplify your approach. Separate the two: Manage your diet to reach your goal/ideal weight. Exercise for health and for fun.

If the jawbone works the same as the fitbit, it will ONLY count steps when your arms move. So if you are using any piece of equipment where you're holding on to it, it's not going to count the steps.

Very good approach!! I'll try changing up my focus. My goal all along has been overall health long term,,somewhere along the way I've become obsessed with the scale.

Not sure where the misconception happened that I don't weigh my food, I do. Great advice everyone,,lots of good tips. Thank you

    do you weigh/log/measure EVERYTHING????
The only things I haven't been weighing are lettuce and liquids or if I have oatmeal.

OK - then you are over estimating calorie burns….try eating back half of them or eat back none and see what happens...

    you are doing the following:

    overestimating calories burned
Underestimated calories consumed via not weighing everything with a food scale

those two combined are why you are not losing….
