Future hernia surgery has motivated me to really be serious about losing weight. Doing the math, I need to lose 3.32#/work day to get there. Realizing to lose 1# of body fat means burning 3,500 calories. You can see my problem: can I possibly exercise enough (walking, stair climbing (7 stories)) to lose 12,250 calories a week while eating healthy?

I'm in my third week and so far so good. I know the loss is easy at the beginning but at some point I expect to hit the 'reality wall'.

I'm in the Jawbone category, so hi ya'll.

  • Micro changes can add up and supplement your bigger changes. Research all the micro changes you can make to help the macro ones (exercising, eating cleanly, etc). How much more movement can you put in each day? Can you stand to type, walk instead of emailing someone down the hall, park further away, always take the stairs, take walking breaks at work (instead of, like, a cigarette break)? Eat healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, etc) and fill up on foods that aren't that caloric (vegetables, whole grains, air-popped popcorn). Get smaller plates/bowls so your portion sizes will ease down automatically. Cut liquid calories. Etc...and good luck! Your goal is an important one!
