Hello. I am back at this again & this time is going to be "the" time. I am thinking about getting one of those "fit bands" but not sure where to start. Can someone give me some insight and a recommendation? TIA

Think about what you want to track and look at features.
I have the FitBit One and it tracks steps, stairs and sleep. I don't use the sleep tracking part, but the steps and stairs are important to me. The only thing I wish I had was the heartrate monitor that some come with.

Last month, I had a Best Buy gift card and bought a Misfit Flash that was on sale. I love it. It tracks, calories, steps, and sleep. With the Misfit app, you set a "points" goal to reach every day by being active. You press the device to see your progress, tag a specific activity, and it also functions as a clock. It claims to be waterproof to wear swimming or in the shower, but I've read reviews where it does not hold up, so I do not let it get wet. It comes with a sport band to wear around your wrist and a clip that I use on my shoe for more accurate measuring when running or biking. It comes with a coin battery (mine was already installed when I got it) that lasts for ~6 months before needing replacement. I think it is a nice, inexpensive tool for someone who is new to wearable fitness tracking.

If you say what is important for you it will be easier to let you know what band might suit your needs.

I got a Polar Loop for Christmas. It tracks your daily activity (high intensity, mid-level intensity, and low intensity activities) which you set a goal for (level 1, 2, and 3), it tells you to move when you have been inactive for more than an hour (not including when your sleeping), and also tracks steps, calories, and sleep. It also pairs with the Polar H6 and H7 heart rate monitors, and when worn with one, it tracks your training sessions, along with your heart rates during the session. The thing I love most about it is that it is waterproof so I can wear it at work (I'm a swim instructor and in the water 4 days a week.)

I love it. My husband thinks I'm insane when I'm constantly walking around the house trying to hit my activity goal.
