Thinking of investing in a Vitamix

One of the reasons I've gained the amount of weight I have is due to large quantities of processed food that I've been eating. I'm trying to be better, and I've heard from some people that using their Vitamix they were able to increase the amount of fruits/veggies they were consuming and lose significantly more weight.
Anyone have any positive/negative experiences with the Vitamix that they'd like to share before I shell out 500 bucks for this oversized blender?

I love my Vitamix! I use it for smoothies, sauces, nut butters, etc. Look into a refurbished unit. We bought one at a home show about 10 years ago and have never had an issue with it.0

I have a vitamix and like it a lot, but FYI blending is a process thus would make your food processed and not really help whatsoever in eating less processed food0 -
I absolutely love mine, use it at least once a day. But yes, it is processing your food.
Check out Williams-Sonoma, I got mine for about $100 less than regular price. I make a daily smoothie, and soups, hummus and sauces in mine. It even has a cleaning cycle.0 -
I don't have a Vitamix. I have a Ninja blender which is great! Mine came with an attachment and two cups to make a smoothie by screwing the mechanism onto the cup and then you turn it over and take the mechanism off and voila! Smoothie in a cup. I know Vitamix is a great product, so if you're heart is set on one, I'd get it! But the Ninja is a great (and cheaper) alternative.
I pretty much just use mine for smoothies once in a while- I don't process my actual meals.0
