I had posted this before already BUT why not again? I don't get it, I am not always hungry, I am so bored/lonely/sad/if I feel sick I want to eat EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter what it is, I'll eat organic things, to Chef Boyardee raviolis. If I don't eat in a few hours my stomach feels like its just gonna croak (Sigh) I have slightly been getting better about soda drinking, I had 2 glasses about 2 or 3 days ago when I went out to eat with my family, so that's good. Compared to the literal 10 I'd shove down my throat every day. I was wondering if someone had tips ( Do not say "Don't eat food" I swear I'll throw my computer monitor across the room) and if someone can help me find a diet to suit my needs I'd be so happy oh lawd. Thanks guys (: ! Have a wonderful day and good luck!

Stock up on healthy snacks. Nuts, fruit, dried fruit with no added oil or sugar, roasted pumpkin seeds, popcorn, pretzels. I have Special K cracker chips that satisfy those "chip" cravings with less fat and calories.

I tire of seeing this advice. The body actually NEEDS healthy fats, and that includes saturated fats from animals! If you are hungry all the time you likely need far more fat and protein and could benefit from reducing processed high carb foods immensely. When things are low in fat they are often, surprise, high in sugar!

It is not normal to be hungry all the time and the human body does not need to graze like a cow. Eat nutrient/micro-nutrient dense meals and cut out the junk. Or not. It's up to you.

If you eat foods such as proteins and fats, you'll find you stay satiated longer. Combine chicken and avocado, nuts and olive oils. Don't go for fad food that promise reduced fat, because they usually add more sugar or salt to replace the fat anyway.

If you open your diary you'll probably get more specific replies to your question.

The first thing I'd do is make sure you're getting enough protein. I'd avoid any sort of overly restrictive diet and make sure you've got your tracker set up correctly for your goals and you understand how to accurately track your intake.

    Are you exercising at all?

If you're eating when you're not hungry, but because you're bored, sad, whatever, you need to deal with those feelings.

I used to be what I called a "comfort eater". Sounds nice, doesn't it? Make myself feel better with food. Sounds kind of cuddly. But when I really looked at it, it didn't make me feel better, it made me feel worse. Sick from the physical overeating, guilty and stressed from the mental anguish of gorging. So I recategorised it. It was NOT "comfort" eating! It was basically self harm. I wasn't in a great place mentally, and I was taking it out on myself by deliberately inflicting damage on myself.

Once I realised that, I was horrified that I could do that to myself and I grew the strength to stop. I still get the urge sometimes, but I am not, and never want to be, someone who punishes myself like that, so I don't.

So yeah. If you're eating because of sadness/boredom/lonliesess etc, you don't need a diet, you need a mental readjustment. Good luck.

You need to replace the eating habit. We are the sum of our habits so when you are bored/lonely/sad, your current habit is to reach for food and that provides you an emotional reward. You need to think of something to put in place of the eating habit that produces an emotional reward. Is it calling a friend? Going for a walk? Playing a video game? Find something other than food that can fill that void to provide the emptional reward. It will be hard at first but habit-building is a muscle. It gets stronger the more you do it.

    You can do this!

Try eating more protein, healthy fats, and fiber to help you feel more full.
Drink water and wait an hour to see if you are still feeling hunger.
Eat slower. Drink a full glass of water while you eat.
Plan and prelog your whole day in advance. Plan to have 1 or 2 snacks.
Eat food you like just smaller portions of higher calorie items.
    Use a smaller plate.
    Exercise more.
Not sure what your goal is but if you are trying to lose a lot and have restricted your calories a great deal more than you are used to maybe set a less agressive goal to start with. You can lower your calorie goal more as you get used to eating less.

As a comfort eater this means a lot to me! Thanks for sharing this honest perspective!

OP it's really tricky to get out of eating those feelings. I drink a lot of tea for comfort, maybe that would help you too? Still seeking comfort in food, I know. But baby steps right?

    100 calorie snacks:
3 oz snap peas, and 5 oz cherry tomatoes: 80 calories
Medium apple - approx. 80 calories
    2 kiwi - 90 calories
    Wasa cracker with 2 T hummus - 110 calories.

For me, an apple or the snap peas and cherry tomatoes do a lot to fill me up.
