If you have an iPhone, Android phone, or an iPod... you can find apps/podcasts that handle the timing for you so you don't have to watch a stopwatch while trying to run. It's an interval program to train you to run a 5K in about 9 weeks... give or take.

http://www.c25k.com/ Here is the link for you. Its getting off the couch and progressing to eventually running 5 kilometers. I am planning to do day 1 of the treadmill version this evening.

Isn't it annoying when people talk in code? it's a beginning running program designed to help people get off the couch and be able to run their first 5k race (3.1 miles). I did something similar and thought I would die the first few trips down the road but then started really feeling better. The best part is you can do what works for you and repeat steps if you need to. Try it, you might surprise yourself.

To be fair, it would be much more annoying if people didn't talk in code

"I'm starting the beginners running program that will allow me to go from being a sedentary couch potato to running a 5k, who's in?"

    :)
