Hi there,
I want to start exercising and was thinking I would enjoy using a rowing machine as it would be low impact on my knees. Will a rowing machine help with weight loss at all? I would like to tone up around my stomach area and arms.
Thank you.

You can't spot reduce specific areas but eat at a deficit and the weight will come off where it wants based on your genetics.
Rowing is a good full body workout and yes, it should be low impact on your knees but the knees do bend quite a bit so be cautious if you have mobility issues.0 -
I love my rowing machine but you are constantly bending your knees. You could find one that allows you to use the arm part alone on days when your knees are especially bad.0

I use mine daily and it primes me for a real workout at the gym. Greatest benefit is increasing the range of motion in the knees and hips. Good cardio if you go full tilt-but I don't.0

Some good advice already.. I use my C2 rowing machine 4x week. It's an amazing full body workout that is low impact. Doesn't mean you don't use your knees though. In fact about 70% of the effort comes from the legs.
Will it help to you to lose weight? Sure - just as long as your cal intake is adjusted as well. Then again, so will a treadmill, elliptical, running, walking, weights, etc....
Rowing gets more muscles involved at one time than some other forms of exercises do - including your core and arms.
Some great information from the company that makes (in many opinion) the best rowers... Look at all their info before you get going.

Rowing can be fine on your knees. Just don't over compress. When you bend your knees, try not to let your heels lift off of the foot stretchers (place where you put your feet). Typically, you can burn tons of calories, because it's an entire body workout. Here's some videos to help with form. http://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/technique-videos0
