Happened to me when I started to eat more leefy greens. Check out Beano. It really helped. I also noticed that when I really slow down my eating and drinking it helped, too. Less air getting into the stomach.0

maybe it's your stomach getting used to processing the different intake? You could have an allergy to something and certain food can trigger IBS - Brussel sprouts and cabbage for instance - also, if you're not drinking enough water but you've increased your fibre that will cause problems.
but from my own personal experience stress plays the biggest part - I had an attack only yesterday simply because of stress - it doesn't have to be anything ridiculously major - for me it was having workmen in the house, when I really wanted to be on my own.0 -
I've had IBS since I was a kid, and maybe I should have put the "IBS" in quotes!!
In my experience, doctors like to tag any unexplained stomach issues as IBS, lobbing a variety of different chemicals at it in the hope that it goes away.
Some studies have suggested that a diet high in processed foods makes it better, some studies show that it makes it worse - it really does depend on your own individual metabolism. Mine is triggered by stress and soya, so it might just be a case of working out what makes it better and worse for you, and moving on from there.
Good luck - if it's anything like I have, you have my sympathy!0 -
I actually have IBS, and I went through sooo many tests to confirm it was IBS and not one of the many other things it could be. Most people with IBS don't even show signs of it until around 21 (weird, I know lol). Fortunately I have a doctor who strongly believes in the idea that proper diet can reduce IBS issues and attacks. For me, I have to stay away from too spicy food and high (processed) sugars. Most can't have dairy, but thankfully I can (and love it lol).
Each person is slightly different. There are plenty of "triggers" that are common and then the individual ones. The commons range from actual foods to mental/emotional business. Stress can be a huge factor in IBS. Also, eating fast causes air to enter the stomach and irritate IBS (I can't chew gum for too long because of this).
As far as type of foods you want to avoid or lessen: Alcohol, fried foods, fast foods, caffeine, candy, and gas-producing veggis. One thing I would recommend, would be to up your fiber intake. If it is IBS, higher fiber in the diet will help greatly. One way to do this is to get the fiber one chewable (my preference) or the Metamucil drink additives (just make sure to follow instructions as the powder can puff up in your throat and cause choking).
Yet another tip: BRAT. Foods in the BRAT "diet" are very helpful in getting rid of an IBS upset or an IBS attack (big difference, believe me). Bananas Rice Applesauce Toast. These four foods, without adding extra condiments, are good to fill the tummy and stop the cramping (and sometimes debilitating pain ugh). During an IBS attack (which I haven't had since I started eating healthier, so not sure if it's IBS for you or not lol lucky) I eat just about only those foods and whatever I can hold down. However, if you add little portions of these to certain trigger foods it can help to prevent some of the discomfort (you'll want to take note of what you eat, when, and the reaction to determine personal triggers). Example, I eat a slice of toast before having 1/2 a snickers bar lol and it actually helps.
Hopefully you don't have IBS (or anything else serious) as it is a lot more then what some make it out to be or understand. If it is IBS though, friend me lol and I'd be more then happy to help now that I've had it a while and managed to learn how to control it.
Best wishes

I had stomach issues and my doc said it might be IBS or an ulcer and basically told me f off, take tabs and come in 3 weeks where they can try something else, ad-infinitum.
Fortunately, I referred myself to a specialist who spotted the signs of gall stones straight away and now I have no gall bladder, but generally healthier.
Moral of this story? Don't be fobbed off with a doctor's opinion as you could end up taking the wrong drugs and not being treated for months or years.
Bitter? me?
Anyways, I hope you're fine and it's nothing serious.0 -

strangly enough i have a yogurt a day
sometimes 2 depending on what shift im on !
nice little treat after a main meal!!
i never ever had them before might try that !!!
things i do eat & prefer not to stop that the tinterweb say can cause it are
wholemeal bread - i used to eat white
weetabix - used to skip breakfast
bananas 7 min a week - used to have 2 max a week
ive really cut my alchohol intake - i was probably guzzling 30-40 units a week
very rare i have that a month!!
im deffo gunna chuck the yogurt and replace with fruit instead see if that works!!

Chucking the yogurt is prolly a decent measure too. For some people it can be beneficial, but others not. lol again one of those individual things. Considering they are researching the connection between intestinal bacteria and IBS yogurt really could be a trigger (too much of a good thing eh?). As far as the pills and drink stuff goes, they aren't yuck if you find the right ones lol. Don't get me wrong, a lot of 'em really suck, lets face it. But I have found strawberry chewables that are actually pretty yummy, but I also don't take these supplements every day, more like on a needs basis. If the tummy feels a little off, take a chewable and it helps me personally. Hopefully you don't have to cut out the foods you love as triggers, and again, hopefully it's just something simple and not IBS0

Eating a high fiber diet will aggravate IBD terribly for many.
You go from eating processed, low fiber starches to less processed whole food sources - grains, additional vegetables (especially the cruciferous types) and you'll tend to aggravate the condition.
Dairy consumption may also affect it.0
