Eating out advice!

So I am off to Las Iguanas on Saturday and I am really strugging with what to order!

I want to be healthy and not fall off the band wagon but I don't just want salad...there is no nutritional info on their website and I have tried emailing with no response.

I was thinking about the churrasco skewers (chicken) or the butternut squash, chickpea and sweet potato chilli? Maybe even the chicken burger with a salad?

What do you guys think?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

It's one night. Eat, log, move on.

Do they have a nutritional menu online? If so you could always preplan what you are going to get before you go. If not- one night won't destroy all the work that you have done.

    Enjoy the night out.

Ahhh I love Las Iguanas. When I eat there I have a chicken burger but ask for it without the bun and get a salad with it or steak with patatas bravas plain with no sauce.

Well should you not have the facts before you choose to eat out?

Exactly what I was going to say! This - for me - is the best balance of being able to maintain the path to my goals while still enjoying nights out without an immense amount of guilt.

What if they cannot show you the food facts?

Is this a restaurant and a special occasion?

Tricks I use for eating out are....

I will half the order if I want to "treat myself" with something I know is not calorie friendly.
    I pass on fried foods.
I also make sure to cut out any "condiments" (mayo, etc) or extra seasonings that they sprinkle on their foods which may overload the sodium.
I also stay away from cheese.
If I am eating a burger I will skip the bun as well.
Oh and I skip the booze and get iced tea with lemon.

And if this 1 meal out, you will be fine even if you go over your calories for the day. Esp. if it is nice place and a special occasion. Enjoy yourself but obviously don't have 3 booze drinks, apps, meal, and then dessert, lol. :)

Oh and found the menu. I would get enchiladas and not care because that is my favorite, lol.

Good question (especially since I visit a lot of smaller mom-and-pop style restaurants). I either do a Google search to see if an independent site has picked up the nutritional info (take this information with a grain of salt), if I can find the nutritional information comparable to the restaurant I'm going to online elsewhere, or when I'm at the restaurant I ask - in detail - how the food is prepared.

You are not going to damage any of your progress for one night... enjoy whatever you want, it isn't like you are going to go back every day for the next week or month.

Healthy habits should not impede from you enjoying life, actually it should enhance it. Try to get an extra workout in if you are so worried about it or nutritional condensed/low calorie meals during the rest of the day -- believe me you will not have 3500 which is what equals 1 lb in just that sitting.
