Loose Skin!

I've been using MFP since May 2014. So far, I have lost over 90 pounds. The weight came off quickly in the beginning but has slowed down (I'm trying to lose weight slower, I wish I didn't loose it as quickly in the beginning). I still want to lose 60 pounds or so. My stomach and legs are shrinking down nicely, I don't really notice any loose skin there... I use lotions daily (and especially focus on the areas where I could have loose skin). My problem is my arms. They are the hardest to slim down for me, and I noticed that they're kind of flabby which concerns me about loose skin. Any suggestions on how to help prevent loose skin on my arms?

    If you have a lot to lose, you can't. I've lost around 130 lbs and I have crazy loose skin. For some people, losing slowly and toning will help, but in people with large amounts, the damage and stretching to the skin can only be repaired surgically. My Dr. was sympathetic but brutally honest about this!

    Some topical creams will lessen stretch marks, but the loose skin is there to stay :(

    If you don't have a lot to lose you can try arm exercises and lifting. It certainly can't hurt and will definitely make you look better in trouble areas :)

    Unfortunately the amount of loose skin you are left with after weigh loss is very dependant on genetics, the time it took you to lose (ie the faster you lose weight the more likely it is that your skin will sag and simply it cannot keep up with the changes)....

    TBH there are so many factors out of your hands in this regard, that it may be something you simply have to accept or if really a problem for you then maybe surgery is the answer.

    From my experience losing weight 76 kgs in total at an older age, I am now 52 and started back in approx. 2011, plus 2 pregnancies, I realise I am very lucky with what little issue I have with this problem.

    Keep up with moisturising, some people swear by Bio-Oil to help, keep well hydrated, get into strength training and lift heavy apparently helps (I don't have the experience to comment on this but it's certainly a great idea anyway)......also be patient, I noticed my skin was 'recovering' for up to 2 years post loss.....so there's hope.

    It's all about genetics and age. Lifting, will help fill in the area and allow it to appear firmer, until the skin tightens.

    I agree that it's genetics. I was left with very lose skin after twins. I had it surgically removed, 18years later. If your interested in skin removal "real self" is a good site with lots of resources.

    Thank you! I am 31. I was hoping things would bounce somewhat back to normal! Since I still have more weight to loose, I don't know how it's going to be! Right now, I wouldn't consider surgery, but I might change my mind when I loose the rest of this weight.
