You can have Tuna, Greek Yogurt, some cereals, hard boiled egg whites (or eggs)...Theres lots of hidden protein in stuff. I would just bite the bullet and buy some protein powder though, its easy and convenient...0

tuna fish, peanut butter, imitation crab meat, grilled chicken, eggs (really cheap and versatile)....0

Greek yogurt!
If you open up your diary we could give you some more advice. I don't seem to ever have a problem getting enough protein. I eat eggs or egg whites for breakfast with a slice of toast that has 5 g of protein in it and cheese. Then lunch and dinner are a lean meat or beans with veggies and snacks are greek yogurt, almonds, ect.
Don't get me wrong, I also have carby snacks like Green Smoothies and vitatops - but for the most part, I try to stay balanced with protein.0 -
peanut butter (but PB is high calorie too), cheese, eggs, nuts (almonds or walnuts), oatmeal, lean meats, fish (tuna or salmon), just a few things I eat on a regular basis to get protein in0

Egg white, boneless, skinless chicken breast, tuna (must minimize mayo!).
BTW, if you look at it, the MRPs are not expensive compared to eating at Subway or similar. One per day would give you a really significant boost in your protein intake.0 -
Roasted soy nuts. Quinoa. Beans.0

I just have larger servings of chicken, fish, beef, pork, whatever I'm having with each meal. IE, 6 oz instead of 3 oz.0

bernard matthews turkey tikka!
cottage cheese!
tuna!0 -
I also eat low fat string cheese for extra protein, low cal. Personally, b/c I try to get at least 100 g of protein/day, I can't do it without at least one shake/day. It's hard to eat that much meat, eggs, fish, etc. Also, in a shake, you get more gm of protein per calorie than with a lot of other foods.
You can buy 2 lb of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Std. for $22-27, which gives you 30 servings, with 24 gm/prot/serving and 120 cal/serving. A can of tuna (water packed) has 20 gm of protein/100 cal, if you eat the entire can. How much is a can of tuna? How many cans of tuna can you easily eat in day?
My point is, that altho the cost of a jar of protein is more $ upfront, in the long run, the cost is probably the same as reg. foods, and it's easier to carry around or swallow than a whole bunch of tuna, eggs, turkey breast, whatever. So it may be something you want to consider, esp. if you get tired of carrying hard boiled eggs around with you!0 -
2 slices of my wholemeal bread is 8g
Eggs, fish, meat, protein shakes, nuts, cheese, healthy yogurts, meat free products...
When I use a whole scoop of protein poweder in my shakes though, it tastes powdery to me. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet, or not adding enough stuff in with it...0 -
i put a bit of sunflower seeds on my salad. i also love kashi go lean high protein & high fiber cereal (though i think it needs a more catchy name).0

I get 100-150g of protein most days! Kashi Go Lean (24g with 1% Milk), Put sliced hard boiled eggs or chicken on a salad to add protein, string cheese, yogurt (Greek yogurt has more protein), chicken, ground turkey, tuna (watch out for the sodium though), and I always drink a protein shake after I workout. Protein powder is a little pricey, but I get 40 servings for about $20 so it's only $.50/serving and mix it with things I have anyway so it's not really that bad!0
