Trying to start over. Again.

I'm sick of losing the same five pounds repeatedly and am trying to make a positive change in my life. I'm really struggling. I need MFP friends so we can all stay accountable. Please send me a request if you'd like. I'll be here trying to straighten myself out

    "five pounds" ... "struggling" ...

    <boggle>

    I regularly fluctuate up to 6 pounds in a single day due to water weight, recent meal weight, exercise schedule, poop schedule, temperature, relative humidity, and phases of the moon.

    Is 5 pounds really an issue? Or ... is there something else going on here?

    No, it's that I'm 30lbs overweight and I can't get past the first five pounds. I don't know if its a medical issue (I'm disabled) or what. I know I need to do better than this, though.

    Have you discussed the issue with your doctor or someone professionally qualified? You don't need to be physically active to lose weight. It's all about the amount of calories and quality of the food you eat. Maybe consulting someone who can make a realistic plan for you would be helpful?

    I'd get someone on here to workout how many calories you should be eating a day, and just stick to that amount no matter what. If you are disabled, then not being able to move and just stuffing too much food in your gob won't help, but if you stick to a fair amount of calories suitable for your body, exercise doesn't really need to come into it. I mean I am able-bodied and I don't really go out of my way to exercise. It's all about how many calories you eat, exercise helps a little but not that much.

    Welcome! It sounds like you're here to make some positive changes. Good on ya! Signing up is the first step.

    If you post in the "getting started" or "introduce yourself" boards, there are threads there for people who are newly joined and looking for friends to support them.

    Also, have a browse through the groups section -- it's a bit annoying 'cause there's no search function, but I know there are several popular groups for people who are trying to lose weight with disabilities. You might find some great support and advice there.

    Welcome to the circus. It's fun around here. :)

    Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate your thoughts and advice. I have specialists who have helped me to get where I am right now (I went from completely bedridden for year to walking without complications.)

    My main issues are a lack of social interaction, support, and binge eating when distressed. I'll take a look around and try to come up with a plan. Thanks again
