My current weight is 132 pounds, I'm 5'4 and measure 33 inches below my belly button. My goal is to lose 1 inch around my stomach in the next 30 days and was wondering if this is a realistic goal for someone my size. I know I would also lose inches other places because you can't spot lose but this is the only place I'm concerned with measuring. Any help you could give me would be wonderful!

You may lose that much from water weight alone. Many of us carry some extra bloating at the belly, especially at different times of the month.

Other than that, you're right, you can't spot reduce. Maybe you'll lose the inch at the belly, sure. Maybe you'll lose two at the hips or at the bust and nothing at the waist. There's really no predicting it. It comes down to genetics and where your body naturally is predisposed to gain and lose the weight.

Why the preoccupation with that particular spot? Are you trying to fit into a guideline for something (military, insurance, etc.?)
  • @segacs I'm going to the beach next month and my stomach is my one place Im really insecure with so I'm just trying to tone up as much as possible before I go.

Ah. Well, in that case, maybe a one-piece bathing suit? Or, better yet, pop some metaphorical IDGAF pills and just enjoy yourself. (IDGAF = I don't give a ... well, you can fill in the last letter.)

(Edited since I would've assumed that the sarcasm was implied, but some folks here are altogether too literal and I didn't want anyone to think I was actually suggesting popping literal pills. Also, the sky is blue.)
