PCOS and loosing weight

Hi my names Samantha and I'm 27 from Mansfield in Nottingham and I have been diagnosed with pcos since I was about 17/18. My clothes size went up with age and last year I found myself a size 26 and over 21st
On December 3rd I visited the nurse and joined the weight loss programme with her and with the use of my fitness pal so far I have lost a stone
I'm doing this without the use of metformin or any other form of weightloss aid and just relying on healthy eating and plenty of exercise. I have joined our local sports centre and go swimming at least 3/4 times a week and sometimes I go more and do aqua fit classes. I always swim 40 lengths minimum but if I can do more I will. At home I have just dance which is a fun and energetic way of burning calories! Wii fit can be fun too definitely gives a good workout.
A typical food diary for me would be porridge and milk, measured to the correct 30g serving and 150ml milk, lunch is home made salad which is made up with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, cooked chicken, cooked ham, gherkin, sliced boiled egg, half fat cheese cubes (measured to 15g). I don't use dressing and croutons. Sometimes I'll add some whole meal pasta (measured to 75g). For dinner I have replaced heavy carbs like mash, potatoes and chips and now have wholemeal pasta or basmati rice sometimes I bulk up on veg and don't have the rice or the pasta. I have stopped buying freezer meals and have instead bought lots of meat so I can have healthier dinners, homemade healthier Chinese or Indian or warming casseroles and stews. I'm eating plenty of fruit a day and of course drinking water.
That's pretty much all about me, I'm looking to talk to and support other people like myself and work together to achieve our goals

I have PCOS...only recently diagnosed as I've aged, but I've been on thyroid mediation for 20+ years. I was diagnosed for that early enough, but no one really caught on to the rest for a while.
You can lose weight with PCOS. It's said it's harder than without....may or may not be the case. With dedication and determination, I don't think I had too much trouble. I find that what works for me is lower carbs/higher protein, watch my sugar intake (I am (was?) pre-diabetic, but last bloodwork was good), and weightlifting....not big on the cardio.
I've pretty much eliminated things like potatoes, rice, and pasta from my diet. This isn't to say I don't occasionally have a little, but it's rare. My sides are almost always a veggie instead of a starch. Coming up on a year now I really don't miss them. I used to be a pasta monster and now I find if I do indulge, I don't really like it as much as I thought. Mostly, the carbs I do get are from fruits, veggies, and a few whole grains (a piece of toast and PB before a workout) and from those that exist in yogourt or whatever I'm snacking on
Good luck to you0
