I was looking at the BodyBug, but I am not sure if it is worth the cost. What HRM do you use and would you reccomend it?

body bugg is mainly an all day tracker.. i use my HRM for exercise only and i use a Cresta pm383, but that's in europe.

I hear the polar 5's and 7's are very popular, too.. and they're all cheaper than the body bugg. Mine was only 30 euro

I had a Timex HRM with chest strap, it way over calculated calories burned, so I wouldn't recommend that brand:ohwell:

Now I have the GoWear Fit armband and love it ~ no more guess work:bigsmile:

i JUST posted this myself. thanks for the suggestions--i have a garmin305 but it only works for outdoor activities like running, biking, and swimming. it doesn't calculate anything stationary (ie. treadmill or spinning). i love to run, so am glad i have it...but so frustrating to spend all that money and it doesn't work indoors! thanks for the suggestions everyone, i will look into them :)

I have two Garmin HRM's one with a gps for outdoors and one without for indoors. Both have a heart rate strap for the chest and I like them both.

For just the heart rate I'd go with the Garmin FR60. Much cheaper and works great so far.

I use the polar ft60, it seems to be accurate and it also gives you exercise goals for the week.
It's one of the best purchases I have made to help with my weight loss.

This has been talked to death. Search for Heart Rate Monitor and you'll find hundreds of posts with recommendations, discussions, etc. My Polar FT4 rocks.
  • I have a Polar FT7. I just use it durning exercise. I like it and the strap is comfy.

My Polar F6 battery died and you can't not change it yourself. You have to send it back to them. Other than that it was great.

Sadly I don't think any of the items out today will do distance for indoors. I suppose the pod for the running shoe would track it on the treadmill, however it requires your foot to hit the ground so it won't work for the elliptical.

Just got a sportline HRM at Walmart yesterday. So I will be starting to use it today. I know there were others on this site that had bought there's there as well. They had 2 models. One that was about 20-30 dollars. Mine was about 50 with tax. It has the chest strap, so I went with that one. Don't know where you live, but Costco had some when we went there. They had New Balance. Hope this helps!

I have a bodymedia fit. Worth every penny for me.

However, I also use a cheap HRM/pedometer watch for workouts....mainly use it to track time, pace and distance though. I also use the CardioTrainer app on my phone (Android, I think it was ported to Android from IOS though)...but that's mainly only for tracking my workouts.

But keep in mind, I really like to obsess over things like this. Having a bunch of gadgets to play around with and numbers to crunch is what makes dieting actually kinda fun for me. Of course, when I get to the end of the week for my weigh in and see that I've burned 12k more calories than Ive eaten in the week...if I havent lost 4 lbs, I have to figure out what went wrong with my math....

Every time it is posted there are new answers from different people, otherwise, why even have a forum when we could just keep reading old posts!?
