So all I know is I'm going on a vacation in the next two days. Don't know how long or where. Its my valentines surprise. One would think romantic right? All I'm doing is freaking out about what am I going to eat? How do I keep my diet in check when I don't know where I'm going or what's around. I just started this again and already having crappy results and now this. Advice please!

Yes. Enjoy your vacation surprise!
If you are going out and want to stay on the lighter side of things, chose grilled meats and veggies. When you get back you can pick up where you left off, no harm done.
Have fun!

First, nothing you are going to do in 2 days will ruin everything.
Second, pack some goto food - I like to take apples, almonds, and protien bars.
Third, order smart if eating out is involved. Soups, vegetables, and lean meats baked or grilled with dressings on the side are usually a good bet. If it's fast food a grilled chicken sandwich (hold the dressing and toss half the bun) usually works.
Fourth, don't forget to have fun - not everyone has a valentine or a fun get away to look forward to.

Seriously, go on vacation and live it up. When I go on vacation this summer (JAMAICA!) you can bet I'm going to stuff my face with all the food and booze I can get my hands on. And then jump back on the wagon when I get home! Losing weight isn't a reason to not enjoy your life.0

Im with ya girl! Im leaving for mexico/vegas in a week for 10 days! Im not going to starve myself but im just going to be smart about what I choose. Eat a salad first so you are already partially full. Stick to fish, seafood and lean meats. Stay away from fried if you can help it. Limit desserts to one (tough at a vegas buffet!). Its your vacation, have fun and enjoy yourself and if you wAnt a big fat piece of cheesecake then enjoy! You have the rest of your life to make the right eating decisions, but special weekends only come along once and a whle.0

I might just opt for the all pina colada diet......0

im going to Disney world tomorrow for the next 10 days. I am terrified as well about over-consuming calories everyday as I have worked so hard the past couple of weeks not to. and on top of that i am going to be surrounded by alcohol come dinner time everyday. i love drinking on vacation!! My plan is to keep it light during the day, walk alot, work out every morning and order no sides with my dinner. And what i do get, i will make sure not to finish. I will be drinking vodka with club soda as well.0

Are you eating at a 1-2lb/week deficit? That means that even if you eat an extra 500-1,000 calories per day, you will gain nothing! I just went on a 7-day vacation. I ate buffet breakfasts and lunches, and for dinners enjoyed fine foods and drinks.. and the damage was a measly 1.4lb gain. That's not worth stressing about. Overall, I've still lost 5.2lbs in the last 30 days.
You can also "save" calories for the special meals. E.g., have a light breakfast (e.g., a Quest Bar) if you plan for a larger lunch and dinner. And pack some healthy snacks.0 -
this is a good opportunity to practice eating more intuitively and practicing portion control. It is quite possible also to be aware without knowing the exact calorie count of something...in that I don't log and haven't for about 1.5 years save for a spot check, I have found that simply being aware and having an educated but still vague idea of how many calories I'm eating has been just fine.
Also, it's vacation...enjoy yourself.0 -
Give yourself permission to enjoy your vacation. Try to make food choices that seem healthy, and try to feel good about them. Above someone mentioned grilled meats and veggies. That sounds like a good option, but I wouldn't limit myself too much. Just be thankful for the chance to get away. I am certain you deserve it :-) You might also look up the specs on one or two of your favorite alcoholic beverages, so you don't need to deny yourself if you and your mate want to toast or something. Have fun. Then get back to MFP when you return.0

I hear ya, I'm off to yucatan part of mexico in a few days and I'm stoked. I'm starting off in cancun where I definitely can't avoid alcohol so I'll just embrace it.0

I was concerned about that because I was going on a 7 day Caribbean cruise and was knee deep in the caloric deficit... people were helpful as they are here. I managed to enjoy lots of food but tried to keep things somewhat balanced but still found time to eat plenty. So go out and have a great time and don't worry about a week or so. Remember this....if you are losing a lbs of fat it equals 3500 calories....if in deficit. you literally would have to eat 3500 more per week to reach maintenance then then another 3500 calories above to gain an actual lbs of fat. so truly you would be eating 7000 calories more than you are now just to gain 1 lbs of fat. also you may likely go up a few lbs but it's likely not fat but water weight. I came back 4 lbs up but I lost it in about a week and clearly it wasn't fat lbs but water lbs. so enjoy and when you get back, do your thing....have fun ~!~0

Yes it is very important for us that whenever we go for a vacation we always take care of our diet. Diet really plays a important role for maintaining our health, you just use some tricks which like choose hotel or restaurant very wisely, eat once in a day, be active whenever you go out of station for vacation.0
