I am trying again to lose extra (many extra) pounds, but find it difficult because I have lupus and fibromyalgia. I wake up each day hurting, so motivation is at a premium. Any suggestions?

  • I'm in the same boat. With the Lupus and Hypothyroid all I want to do is sleep and eat. I just tell myself that my health and body will only get worse if I don't get my butt up and fight thru it. Even if it's just a 15 minute workout here and there. I can already tell a difference.

I've been pushing through, but it's nice to know others have experienced this! Thanks Crystalberries!

    Make it easier for yourself.
    1. understand what motivates you and why you want to lose weight, its it health, confidence, looks, family. Remind yourself of those reasons and how your life will improve.
    2. Instead of being beaten down by your lupus and fibro, work with them. Keep reminding yourself losing weight will ease the pain and decrease the fatigue.
    3. Make things easier for yourself by dieting effectively and avoid the mistakes of people who fail to stick with it. Weigh and log food etc. Try some exercise. Prelog meals so you have less to wory about. Get the basics right.
    4. Work out what you can and cant eat due to your conditions. Whilst im not into restricting a degree of common sense will help you control your food, so you have more energy and do not aggravate.
    5. Be supportive of yourself, but dont make excuses.

I've spent years struggling with very painful reproductive problems due to y endometriosis and then oh so joyful (note sarcasm) treatment side effects. I wasn't able to do much until my pain was under control, except for watching my intake. When I had good days of little pain I walked around the neighborhood, slowly but still.

I'm sorry you're in such constant pain. It certainly affects your quality of life and feelings of self.
