We are all different so you really need to know yourself, your motivations, triggers and tendencies. That being said, here are a few things that have been working for me:
- Exercise in the morning before work. The day can get busy and often, "doing it later" never happens
- Make your workouts something you enjoy. For me, I love watching sports on TV so, I watch recorded sporting events while I ride my stationary bike
- No eating after 8pm. My biggest downfall was eating at night, it would turn into a massive binge. If I commit to no food after 8, that makes a massive difference to me
- Make healthy choices at restaurants. For valentines breakfast my wife and I went to IHOP. I had the two egg-white, turkey bacon and fruit breakfast
- Make your changes something that you can do permanently. Any short-term fix will come undone - people who go on the show "The Biggest Loser" cannot maintain 6 hour a day workouts once they leave the show. Do something you can maintain forever, it is a lifestyle change not a diet.
- Weigh yourself at the same time every day. That keeps me accountable to me, if I cheat, I immediately see the result the next morning. Weekly weigh-ins leave me too much room to get off track
- Change your mindset from "Live to eat" over to "Eat to live". There is a major difference; changing my thinking about food has helped me tremendously.
- Have clothes visible to you everyday that you would like to fit in once again. I am starting to fit into some shirts I haven't worn in a long time, it is a great feeling.
- Don't let one cheat or one bad day ruin everything. It is only one day, don't string two together, get back on track and stay the course as best you can.
Everybody is different and different things work for different people. Hopefully some of the things I do help you but, if not, find the things that work for you and keep you motivated.
Best wishes.

I plan my food for the next day the night before, it helps me stick to the plan as I'm not reaching for quick fixes when I'm tired or making poor choices, good luck on your journey, you'll be great!0
