Hi everyone,
I currently work 12 hour shifts including night shifts. I am having a hard time planning meals/snacks around my nights. Should I just eat at night as if I would during the day or should I eat during the day before work at night? Anyone else here that does shift work have any tips or tricks? I also find if very hard fitting exercise in during my run of night shifts. Just so tired during the day. Any advise welcome!

Hi. I also work nights. What I do is track midnight to midnight regardless of shift start/end. That way I am consistent.

Just came off night shift- still dealing with the upside down sleep patterns (which is why I am awake in the middle of the night because I got hungry). I would log midnight to midnight I don't recommend fasting at night at work because once you get home you need a decent day's sleep Eat mostly at night.

I used to work night shift! I'm pulling one now lol I actually lost weight on it!! I'd eat at 7 a breakfast when my shift ended and go to sleep. Id wake up and workout then eat a normal dinner. Then I'd have like a lunch while working. I only had to do 8 hours at a time though so fitting in exercise wasn't as much of a challenge! Good luck to you!

I am currently sitting on my night shift.(only eight hrs so 11-7) I log midnight to midnight. I usually come in and get settled, eat a snack around 11:30, eat a lunch around 2am, and maybe another snack around 4. I also munch on fruit and veggies through out the night. I do ww so count calories a little differently. I usually go to bed when I get home from my shift , wake up around 1 and have a breakfast, exercise, eat dinner around 4 and then take a nap before heading to work. It's actually easier for me to control my eating and stay within calorie limits when I work night shift. On day shift it feels like I have a lot of free time at home to eat junk mindlessly whereas with night shift, my sleep pattern breaks up that ability

That makes sence. I've been logging my meals and snacks that I plan to eat during work in the day prior to the night shift. It's been really confusing. But for my next set of nights I'll do the 12 to 12 logging. That seems like it will make things much easier.
