Smoothie Replacement Plan Questions......

Come warm weather and larger "in-season" fruit selections, I really want to start replacing my soup or salad lunches with smoothies, but I work in an office where the kitchen is literally a sink and a microwave and everyone prizes peace and quiet, and I'm out of the house more often than not. Soups and salads are great make ahead lunches, but can I do the same with smoothies? And what's the rule of thumb for prepping/blending/lunchboxing? I'm not looking to make protein shakes, just fruit and veggie smoothies that I can even take when I decide to head out the door and take on a walk during my all too brief lunch hour. Thanks!

Buy a thermos you like to keep the smoothies cool and carry that to work similar to how you carry your soups.
It you are counting on your smoothie for lunch, include protein like yogurt or milk or sunflower seeds and nuts. Also, usually I have more greens than fruit in my smoothies.
You will find your own mix.

I make them at home and bring them with me. You can freeze them too. :)

I personally think a nutri bullet is well worth the money and the only way to go. I just got done freezing twelve quart size bags of ready to go ingredients. I used to have trouble with my fresh fruit or spring greens or spinach going bad before I used it all so I decide which recipes I am going to make, then buy large quantities of the ingredients, make them all up in one day and pop them in the freezer. I take them out about an hour before blending and the nutribullet cup comes with covers so I just walk out the door with them.
  • Great idea thanks will do this.

I make green smoothies two days at a time in my vitamix. I actually like the taste of them more after a few hours, and they're totally fine the next day too.

I could never use them as a meal replacement though...they're just a delicious snack for me.
  • I'm a NutriBullet fan too! How do you add them to the food list for calorie intact? Do I input - banana 1, spinach handful. berries 2oz etc?
