As you lose weight your calorie goal may reduce slightly, but I have a few male friends on here and their goals are all over 2000 per day and they are doing awesome!

Thanks 1 always had lo caliories when I tried to go on a diet but seen a video saying about that once your body get used to eating a certain way of lo caliories then it's harder to lose weight
  • I'm female and my goal is 1200 calories per day. When I get to a plateau (not losing any weight with same workout and calorie intake) I up my calories for a week or two and then notice the weight starts coming off again. I'm not sure if that works for everyone, but it works for me.

Try what MFP recommends and just spend some time figuring out the logging, as it can be easy to log inaccurately at first. Once you get the logging and calories down and have a couple of weeks in, you can assess how it's working. I trusted MFP's calculations at first and they worked for me--I've lost 95 lbs.

The main thing is being consistent when you try something and giving it a chance to work.

The human body was built to adjust to whatever conditions it faces and that can be tricky with the calories sometimes. Start with what MFP suggests and adjust as you go along. From my experience, the more weight you lose the harder it gets in every way. Along the way you're going to have to change up workouts, change what you're eating, how much water you're drinking, etc. You are beginning an exciting journey my friend!

Be honest with yourself when logging, use a food scale to log, trust in the system it works and don't over think it.
