Sauna Calories burnt

Hello all I read about sitting in the sauna for 30 mines burning as much as 300 calories anymore else doing this? What about tracking it in fitness pal?

    If the sauna burned 300 calories in 30 minutes I would never do cardio.

    Honestly I just thought it was for water weight, as normally my friends use it a lot before they go on holiday so they get used to high temperatures?

    It's pretty common for people to confuse sweating with burning calories since we tend to do one when we are doing the other, but you only sweat to cool you down. It has nothing to do with whether or not you are burning calories.

    There are lots of days where I run in 20-35 degree weather, and I won't sweat at all, but I'm definitely still burning calories. On the other side of the spectrum is the sauna. You aren't doing anything, so you aren't burning any calories, but you are sweating like crazy.

    That is untrue. Livestrong is not a good source for accurate information.
