Ideal weight before heavy lifting?

should I get to my ideal weight in a caloric deficit before lifting heavy weights or go into a calorie surplus anyway? Are you able to burn fat while building muscle? Should I just eat normal? I have love handles and still some belly fat that's preventing my ab muscles from showing. I read somewhere it's best to get to your ideal weight first, just wanted to check. Thanks!

No. If you want to lift then the best weight to start at is the weight youre currently at.0

Lift now.0

The question was not lift now or lift later, but should I be in a deficit, eat at maintenance, or a calorie surplus when lifting??? Will I be able to create bigger muscles in a deficit and burn fat at the same time?0

You won't be able to create "bigger muscles" in a deficit. You can lose fat and help maintain the muscle mass you already have. If you still have fat to lose, you should lift on a deficit. Do you know your body fat %?0 -
Lift now, in a deficit, while you're losing, to preserve the muscle you already have. You likely won't put on much, if any muscle mass, but you'll have conditioned muscles that look a lot better than unconditioned ones.0

Start now! I wish I had started sooner.0

Second betharin above. Start now while in a deficit you will retain more LBM.
It is easier to retain the muscle you have now by lifting, than having to rebuild that which you lost while losing weight.

Lift now, stay in a deficit. When you get to the weight you like, then you can start playing around. (Bulk, cut, etc)0

From the picture in your profile you look lean enough to start a bulk now if you're comfortable with it0

You can and should lift whether you're in a deficit, at maintenance, or eating a surplus. There are benefits to lifting in all of those phases.
It's especially important to lift while you're in a deficit because it will prevent you from losing mass from your muscles and bones.
You can significantly increase your strength while lifting in a deficit. However, you won't gain a significant amount of muscle mass while lifting in a deficit.

Never wait to start strength training. Regardless of whether you are in a deficit, maintenance or surplus. Strength training should be a staple.0
