I can feel it more in my legs when I speed walk at an incline vs when I run...is walking working my muscles more or just differently?

IMO, just differently, esp on an incline. More importantly for me, less pounding on the joints0

Yeah I prefer to walk on an incline because I get pain in my knees when running and I believe it's just as effective well it works for me any way lol0

Running is really hard on my ankles and knees. When I do use a treadmill I tend to do a massive incline at a brisk walking pace. Still a very good workout in my humble opinion.0

When I run, I only run for 5min at a time at a decent pace. Up & downmy slightly inclined driveway. On a special day I also do sprints & a 2nd run. But that's only because I'm wanting to become a state trooper & its part of the 6mo training to run when I get accepted. I also prefer waling. I walk up & down inclines for 8hr a day& have no joint pain. But I'm a healthy 22yr old male, so that helps lol. In my opinion, walking is the better option, however if you incorporate short sprints into it, you may see a strength gain as well as your cardio. Just do what feels right to your body & your golden.0

Walking works your muscles differently. As others have noted, running is a bit harder on the joints because there is more downward force with each step relative to walking.0
