I'm down nearly 20 lbs. My clothes are fitting better. But my tape measure says I haven't really lost inches. How can this be?

Someone posted nearly the exact same thing yesterday lol
Over the last 8 weeks, I lost 15 pounds, but only 1 inch around my waist. I've noticed that I go back & forth - I lose weight, then I lose inches, then back to losing weight & so on. Yes, you need the cardio to burn the fat, but do strength training/toning for help with that aspect. Stronger & more muscle burns more fat. It's a roller coaster in a matter of speaking, but not an up & down; more of a back & forth.
Just keep doing what you're doing...in the end, it WILL balance out.0 -
I feel the same way. I'm down almost 36lbs (lost some before finding the site) and haven't really lost any inches!
Some girl at work told me she couldn't tell I had lost weight0 -
I have a real problem with tape measures. Mainly that I can rarely get them to read the same thing twice. And if another person does it, they do it differently! And eventually... they stretch out... Sigh. If your clothes are fitting better something's moved about.0

Being a guy some things I don't measure or I only measure my belly. From a visual inspection and from clothes I've lost weight in many places. Some you may not measure, for instance, inner thighs, face, chin, neck etc. Trust the fact that if you are losing weight the volume is going down somewhere.0

hi, i dont know how much you weigh, but it took me (at 249lbs) to lose 20 pounds before i could go down a size. i was 249, size 20 and for every pant size that i dropped, it took 20 pounds to lose. i've also noticed that since i've lost alot more weight, it doesnt take as many pounds to be lost to drop a size.
dont be discouraged, it takes time and patience. it's been 16 months and 87 pounds for me and i'm still going!
good luck!!0
