How to properly log insanity workouts?

so I'm on my 3rd week of insanity and I love it!! But I'm having a really hard time logging it in MFP, not really sure what to call it, I picked calisthenics, but I feel like I'm not losing as much weight as I should, I think I'm giving myself too many burned calories and eating them back...thoughts?

I created custom entries for each workout. If you don't want to go through all of that, I've heard of other people logging it as Circuit Training, but it's not quite as accurate.

Do you own a heart rate monitor? When I did Insanity I entered each workout individually like mentioned above, but I knew my calorie burn from my HRM.0

I didn't have a HRM when I started, but estimated based on this website: http://insanitycalories.com/
After getting my HRM, I found that the estimate on this website was really close to my actual numbers. It was off anywhere between 50-80 calories on average, but still really good for an estimate.0 -

There is no way to reliably measure your expenditure, so if you feel that the approximation hat you're currently registering is overestimating, then reduce it a bit.
You have to test your progress and adjust accordingly.0 -

I have found the opposite this week. My calorie burn is significantly lower on my HRM compared to the insanity calories calculator. Only burned 338 for the Max Cardio Conditioning workout this morning. The calculator states I should have burned in region of 550 cals. I was working as hard as I could and it felt like a 500 cal burn! I must admit I was disappointed when I saw the HRM reading at the end!!!

Another helpful MFP person suggested using this calculator by the Journal of Sport Science, www.calories-calculator.net. It suggests that based on my age (41), weight (120) & average HR (128) over the 49 min work out that my calorie burn should be 524 cals. Not far off the www.insanitycalories.com figure. It sure felt like a 524 burn today!
I know calories aren't everything but a near 200 difference is quite a lot.0 -
