I have arthritis and exercise is very hard to do cause of my painful joints. What do you suggest.

Well, I think the first advice I would give is: believe in yourself. As tough as it might be, if you focus on your goals and where you want to get, you absolutely can do it! In terms of exercise, try to do anything in the water (swim, aquafit, etc) so it doesn't bother your joints. One thing that helps me to keep going is setting realistic, short term goals. For example, my long term goal is to lose between 21-27kg, but I determine short term goals like: in the next 4 weeks I want to lose 2kg. Then, at the end of the 4 weeks, I establish another short term goal, and so on. I hope that helps

I've just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and about to start treatment in a couple of weeks. At the moment I can only really do walking. I want to get back to running, kettlebells and my exercise DVDs once the medication has taken affect. Swimming should help though

You can lose weight without exercise - seriously. You need to eat in a calorie deficit and you will lose weight. I would choose healthy, nutrition dense foods over low fat low cal foods. But you can do it!

I think what prompted me to return to MFP was the aching joints. I knew in my head that losing a bit of weight...even 20 lbs would help the knees, hips, and everything else. Swimming would be the exercise recommended for sure but tracking what you eat and ensuring you are eating foods that don't contribute to inflammation is the best start!

Swim swim swim, one of the very best forms of exercise as it works all areas, supports the body/muscles without putting pressure on joints and you don't even feel like you're exercising....SWIM :-)
