hello I really want to lose 15kg by July i am a twenty four year old female weighing in at 83kg :( I really wanted to make last year "my year" but I ended up gaining 7kg! My goal weight is 65kg I am 179cm tall (5"10).

My problem is I eat healthy for a day or two then just keep going back to my old eating habbits! I REALLY want to lose weight more than anything I just can't get the motivation I am very lazy I do 1 pt a week and that's the only time I ever go to the gym im sick of being a slob I want to be thin and healthy I just need some motivation and support - please help!

I keep turning to weightloss pills and slim teas looking for a quick fix but end up gaining most of it back, I'm so embarassed to leave the house sometimes or go to the gym because of my appearance it's giving me really bad anxiety, I just don't know what else to do:(

Hi. I know what you mean. I used to do the same thing. What I started to do (in August) was log everything. Over ate? Logged it. Just kept eating? Logged it. Eventually it go to the point that seeing the 4k days next to the 1500 days was motivation enough. Now I just make sure I log everyday, and it seems to work for me. Since aug I have lost 60 lbs doing this.
  • That's an amazing loss! Congrats I don't know the conversion in kg though! I overall want to lose 22kg this year but my goal is 15kg by July! I have been logging I was 1,316 over today

Don't do anything to lose weight that you can't continue to do for the rest of your life. Don't start anything that you eventually have to 'come off' like teas or pills. You'll gain it all right back when you go back to your normal lifestyle. My advice would be to start making small changes that you can easily maintain, and focus on health.

To lose weight, eat less, move more. You don't have to eat anything special, you just need to eat less of the stuff you are already eating. And while you don't have to exercise to lose weight, it is a lot easier if you do.

33 pounds by July? It's doable, this 1.5 pounds a week, but as you get closer to goal, it will take a lot of discipline. IMO, its much better not to put a time restraint on yourself.

    No you don't.

When you REALLY want to lose the weight MORE than eating like you used to ... you will.

Unfortunately if you are somebody who struggles with feeling motivated, none of us through the computer screen are going to be able to do it anything about it. It has to come from you making a choice. You need to be disciplined with yourself, not wait for a magical burst of enthusiasm which will propel you smoothly through the next few months to a year.

I wouldn't set yourself a date by which to lose the weight - I worry that might be setting yourself up for failure. 15kg in five months is ike 6.5lbs a month, more than a pound a week.... That's a very fast rate, probably unrealistic for most to achieve in a healthy way.

When you say bad habits, what are you referring to? Do you drink a lot of high calorie drinks? Do you eat much larger portions that you should? Do you tend to eat too much chocolate/ice cream/sweets whilst watching TV at night? You've said you find a consistent exercise regime hard, but maybe if your self esteem was better that would easier. I would try to break one bad habit a month/fortnight, rather than overhaul your life entirely in one go. That's much easier to maintain, you're more likely to succeed, and that may motivate you to stick with it. For example when I first started losing weight I first cut down on the amount of biscuits and mini chocolate bars I snacked on in the afternoons, and swapped that for fruit and veg, probably saving myself 100 calories a pop. Once I cracked that, I felt ready to start swimming 2/3 times a week.

Also if you genuinely suffer with anxiety, talk to your GP. No need to suffer through that and let it impact your quality of life.
