Calories & Cardio

Does anyone think if I'm on a 1330 a day calorie plan and I'm doing cardio for 2 hours a day and possibly burning about 400-500 calories at a time, this is a good think overall? I'm worried about doing too much to soon in this process (its only been 3-4 weeks since I started).

You might try plugging your info and goals into here.

Keep in mind that you shouldn't ever go below your BMR because you will go into starvation mode and eventually when presented with the opportunity to eat, you will (people with eating disorders would not succumb to this). The goal is to feed your body enough to keep working, but have enough of a calorie reduction to lose weight without going too hungry. Some people can reduce calories enough to target a 2 pound/week loss, but as people get thinner that is no longer possible while staying above BMR so they have to reduce to 1 pound per week, and so forth.
That link above shoudl give you some advice from which you can determine how comfortable you are with your plans.

I think that sounds like a bad plan.0

Think there are a few points to consider.
Why do CV work for two hours if you don't have some kind of performance goal in mind? Personally I'll comfortably run or cycle for two hours, but the purpose there is to train for long distance running and riding.
You'll get plenty of benefit for your cardiac health from a much shorter period, somewhere between 20 and 40 minutes is more than enough for generic stamina improvement.
Assumingthat you're using MFP as designed you should be eating back the calories that you expend in training, recognising that the various methods of estimating the calorie expenditure are all equally inaccurate.
So, bad plan? Depends, it doesn't sound like a good plan.

I'm not training for anything particular at the moment. I just want to maximize my weight loss potentional but I'm understanding the problem with the pace I've set for myself. I'll dial it back on the cardio just a bit. Thanks.0

I would say 1330 is a good amount if you do no exercise at all. If you exercise you should be eating most of those calories back.0

OK, taking some guesses based on your weight loss goal, but if you're roughly 200 lbs currently, your BMR is in the 1600 range. Right there says you're being way too aggressive with your deficit -- eating below your BMR is generally a recipe for early burnout. And if you're doing 2 hours of cardio, you need to be eating back a goodly portion (say, 50%) of the burn from that.0

1330 calories consumed a day and burning 400-500 calories means your body is trying to survive on 830-930 calories per day outside of your workout. That seems too restrictive to me.1
