5'5"-5'7" women: how long did it take you to get from 160 to 140?

I realize that there are a huge number of variables here, but I'd like to know how long it took you to lose those pounds. AND what, if anything, did you change during this time?

I went from 200-180 in about 2.5 months and 180-160 in about 3. I know this is the point where it starts getting very hard.

Thanks in advance.

    I'm 5'6".

    1/1/14 - 202.5 lbs
    3/9/14 - 181.5 lbs
    6/29/14 - 160.1 lbs
    11/9/14 - 150.5 lbs
    2/18/15 - 149.5 lbs

I maintained (on purpose) through most of November and December and then only really started trying to get back to losing about 3.5 weeks ago. Since then I've gone from 153 to 149.5 with a couple of one day dips down to the 147-148 range. My guess is that getting to 140 is going to take most of the year, or at least into late summer/fall.

Yeah, I'm not on any deadline, but I'm guessing this block is going to take a loooooong time. Thanks!

Well I haven't gotten there yet... but when I first lost weight I went from 195 to 145 in 5-6 months. I was also doing 6-7hrs cardio and not eating enough calories (not tracking, just "eating clean" and small portions).

I'm also guessing that my last 15-20lbs will be lost no sooner than this summer, probably end of summer. I'm hoping to maintain by September for a few months and then start a winter bulk.

@ana3067, is that 6-7 hours per day?

LOL omg no. per week. Still more cardio than I do now; I was also doing about 30 minutes of weight machines most days, so an extra 2hrs maybe a week of exercise.

Sorry, I forgot to mention how I made it work. I was eating 1500 calories 6 days a week and eating under 2000 one day + working out 5 days a week, 3 lifting as heavy as I could and 2 cardio, usually HIIT. I lost focus when we vacationed in Italy 2 weeks in July 2014 and didn't get back on track until a couple of weeks ago. It could have been a lot worse than 8#!

My goal now is 135#; I don't have a set date for it to happen by. Just sticking to eating right and moving a LOT more.

    Good luck with your goals!

Great question. I'm in for the discussion. I started out at 187 12/29/14 and am at 173 now. I would love to get into the high 140's by my 40th birthday in August, but now that I'm focused more on bodyweight training/ strength, we'll see what my true end goal weight is.

Thanks all! I like getting a wide perspective on how long it takes with different approaches. Keep them coming!
