Absolutely not.it's dangerous and unhealthy as you need more calories than that just to maintain normal body functions. You need to speak to your doctor.0

The app will not set goals below 1200. This past is against the guidelines.0

How are you going to meet the energy needs of your body for daily functioning (organs, liver, kidneys, heart, brain)? Nevermind nutritional needs for other processes.
How did you come up with this number? It's not realistic or safe.0 -
No. That is a dangerously low calorie count.0

By definition, that IS starving. That's a dangerous, foolish, bad thing to do with absolutely nothing going for it. Do NOT do this to yourself. If you think this is a reasonable thing to do, you either need an education, or a therapist.0

I know you mean 'starving' as in feeling hungry, but just eating 450 might be actually starving. Your body burns a ton of energy each day just staying alive, your lungs breathing, your heart beating etc, and 450 is decidedly under anybodies number for that.
I strongly advise you work out your BMR and TDEE. Your BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate, aka this is the minimum you need just to function. It'll probably be in the 1200-1800 range, and this is the number of calories you need to keep everything going and the same if you never moved. Your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is how much you actually use in a day when you take into account your activity level, and if you want to lose weight try taking 10-20% off this number so that you're burning off more than you're eating, but you still have enough energy to stay alive.
Calculators working out both of these things can be find online pretty easily, I'd get numbers from a few different ones to get an average.
Also 2lb a week is pretty fast - maybe 1lb a week would be better to start with?0 -
You just need patience.-7

I will try to get my post in before this thread becomes too alarmist.
I'm guessing you're of a shorter build--if 450 is your number for a 2 lb/week loss, then MFP must be calculating your maintenance calories at around ~1500.
Unfortunately, as has been stated earlier, it is strongly not recommended to eat below 1200 calories unless you have severe weight issues and are in consultation with a physician for a Very Low Calorie Diet. The reality is that you will only be able to (healthily) manage a calorie deficit of about ~300 per day (~.6 lbs/week without additional exercise).
I'm sorry if this is disappointing, but remember: health first, weight loss second!0 -
I second what @DrWholsYerDad said + patience and persistence
Besides in the case of extreme eating disorder, you will not be able to maintain 450 calories a day long term (or most likely, for more than a few days) your body will get hungry and you will overeat/binge to make up for the lack of calories and in most cases you will eat more than you would have, have you just set a realistic deficit and stuck to it.

The only way you can do that would be to set your goals manually to 450 and then work on doing a ton of exercise to be able to eat a reasonable amount of food (ie. burn off 800-1000 calories in exercise in order to eat 1250-1450 worth of calories).
This isn't realistic and you would end up severely lacking in energy.
I, like you would have to eat 500 cals every day to lose 2lb per week, so instead I've been aiming for 1lb per week until now so that way I set my goals to 1000 day and then 'earn' extra calories through exercise but never less than an additional 400-500 on top of my minimum. This means I have to exercise every day, but I eat around 1400-1500 so I don't feel hungry.0 -
without starving.. nope.
And honestly eating that little and doing damage to your body won't do you any favors and can probably set you up on a cycle where you lose some weight starving... then you eat and gain it back and on goes the cycle.
Please listen to the above advice0 -
have major abdominal surgery like gastric bypass or the sleeve? That's the only way you're not going to notice that you're eating less than a couple bowls of cereal a day. You may think you want to lose 2lbs/week, but you really don't.0

Be careful of that... Either really know what you are doing or seek physician help. That is a common target on many doctor supervised diets.0

She only has 23lbs to lose. Any doctor who prescribed that level, with that little to lose, would deserve to lose their medical licence. To be honest, any doctor who prescribes this ever, except for extreme cases for short periods, shouldn't be allowed to practice.
